Hey, hey! Tuesdays are fun for me these days because they’re the day I move to the next week pregnancy. I’m alway so excited to read about all of the developments going on with the baby week-to-week.

I’m not sure if I’ll do these updates weekly or bi-weekly but I thought I’d do one today since I haven’t yet! Also, I snapped a picture of my groceries at 9 weeks pregnant because Tanner laughed at me (in a loving way) when he saw what I purchased.

15 WEEKS PREGNANCY UPDATE

15 Weeks Pregnancy Update

At week 15 the baby is the size of a navel orange, according to The Bump app. My other app (Glow Nurture) says a pear.

Here’s what’s going on with baby this week:

  • All of the joints and limbs can move, bone and marrow continuing to develop and muscles are developing too. By the end of the week, baby will be able to make a fist!
  • The baby’s proportions are becoming more normal with legs now longer than arms. Eyes and ears have more of a baby-like appearance.
  • Hair is starting to appear on the scalp and eyebrows and if the baby is going to have dark hair, the pigment may start developing now (Tanner and I have such different coloring that it will be fascinating to see how baby turns out!).

Since we missed week 14, it’s worth noting that a lot was going on last week! The reproductive system had the most development with prostate gland forming if it’s a boy and ovaries moving down into baby girl’s pelvis. Also, the thyroid gland started functioning and baby started producing hormones.

I find all of this so crazy interesting!

15 Weeks Pregnancy Update

And here’s what’s going on with mom this week! 🙂 <3

Weight Gain/Body Changes: I think I’m still hovering around that 5-6 pound mark for weight gain. I think the bump is the tiniest bit more visible than last week and again, SO many of my students are commenting on it, especially when I wear fitted tanks to teach. I’m also noticing more changes in my breasts and they are growing more than they ever have in my life! I know most people probably can’t tell but when you go from nothing to something it’s a big step! (keep reading for a funny story about that)

Workouts/Workout Modifications: Workouts feel great – running, lifting and yoga. I haven’t had to make any new modifications this week but I will write a post soon with all of the changes I’ve made so far in pregnancy, especially for yoga and lifting.

Symptoms: Not having a lot of physical symptoms but what a fun emotional rollercoaster I am on constantly. 😉

Food Aversions: None of these, although I have lost interest in ice cream recently…which is sad.

Food Cravings: Nope.

Sleep: Like I mentioned yesterday, I either have a hard time falling asleep and sleep fitfully or fall asleep easily into a deep sleep. I go in cycles of a few days of one and then a few days of the other.

Maternity Clothes: Nope. Although I have abandoned all of my clothes that were already on the small side in favor of those that are a little comfier/stretchier.

Miss Anything: Not going to lie, a glass of red wine would be nice! Making due with kombucha in a wine glass instead. It’s all good.

Fun/Weird Stuff Shares: First, I had my first EVER experience with chaffing at Saturday’s half marathon. During the race it felt like someone was poking me with a hot pin under my chest. I thought maybe it was the safety pins from my bib. When I got in the shower after the race and stepped into the water I felt searing pain and looked down and saw that I had chaffed at the line of my sports bra under my chest. My sports bras still fit fine but I guess this slight change in breast size caused it. Ouch! Second, I had a dream last night that the baby was several months old (I won’t tell you what gender I dreamed) and that we still hadn’t named it. Haha.

Reading/Listening To: Not reading any baby books at the moment but I do regularly listen to episodes of the Birthful Podcast. I’ve tried a few pregnancy podcasts and this one is by FAR my favorite. I do not recommend Common Sense Pregnancy & Parenting or The Pregnancy Podcast, just my personal opinion, but I found both hosts to be hard to connect/relate to. I LOVE Adriana Lozada who hosts the Birthful Podcast and I’ve found the episodes to be educational, helpful and thought-provoking.

Looking Forward To: Finding out the gender at our 18 week ultrasound! It’s on December 4 so less than three weeks to go. We have a good guess on what we think it is, I’d love to hear yours! 🙂

WHAT I BOUGHT AT WHOLE FOODS AT 9 WEEKS PREGNANT

What I bought at Whole Foods at 9 weeks pregnant.

You’ll see a lot of the usual suspects but this was definitely the first time I came home with pregnancy-specific craving items, including:

  • Animal cookies
  • Quack n’ Bites cheese crackers
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Pumpkin pie gelato and cookies & cream ice cream
  • Frozen BBQ chicken pizza
  • Ginger tea

I think Tanner got the biggest kick out of the chocolate syrup. I was like, “it’s for my ice cream…you can’t have a bowl of ice cream without chocolate syrup!”

Also to be noted, the brand of granola you see above I would not recommend. I ended up returning both bags because it was so bad, and I rarely do that.

That’s all for today’s update! Let me know if I’m missing anything that you’d like for me to include in these pregnancy updates.

I’d love your gender guess – boy or girl!?

What were some of your early pregnancy cravings and aversions?
