I’m getting a late start to my Monday working after a pregnancy scare this morning that sent me to labor and delivery for a few hours of monitoring.
I’ll fill you in on everything in tomorrow’s 27 week pregnancy recap but me and baby boy are 100% okay and home resting and taking it easy. Please pray for us that it stays that way!
After returning home from NYC and getting sick on the way home, I was in the mood for a very low-key weekend. I subbed out my Friday morning class so that I could sleep in a bit and then had two other classes to teach that day – one cardio strength at the Y and a yoga class at the studio.
I stopped by the grocery on the way home from my evening class to pick up a few things to make a “real” meal. I don’t think I’ve cooked one of these in weeks! I made braised red cabbage and apples, roasted butternut squash and spiced chicken thighs.
Friday night’s entertainment was the movie Megan Leavey and it was just the type of movie I needed to see. I loved the story.
I always love it when movies are based on real life events/stories and Megan Leavey’s story is so uplifting, inspiring and heartwarming. If you haven’t seen the movie, I highly recommend it. This photo is of the real life Megan Leavey and her dog Rex. I thought that Kate Mara did a great job playing the part. I’ve always been a fan of hers.
My Saturday morning was spent teaching – I taught strength at the studio at 8:15a and then my normal hot yoga class at 11:15a. Lunch after teaching and a quick showing appointment for my rental home was a turkey sandwich with avocado, tomato, muenster, arugula, mayo and spicy mustard.
I’ve received a lot of questions about eating lunch meat and pregnancy. I buy the Applegate Organic packaged lunch meat where I would usually get the fresh stuff from the deli and then I heat it under the broiler for a few minutes. I definitely try to be careful about sources of lunchmeat that I eat but I honestly feel like listeria is more prevalent these days in things like salad mix, fruit and hummus than it is in deli meat!
On Saturday afternoon I got a 90 minute prenantal massage and it was so needed. I have only had one other massage since I’ve been pregnant and pre-pregnancy I got 1-2 a month. My therapist (who I love and have been seeing for a couple years now) said that it will be most important for me to get them regularly in my third trimester. So I’ll be sure to make that a priority. 😉 (Twist my arm.)
Also, prenatal massages are the best because you get to do them side-lying. I get so stuffy and puffy when I am on my belly with my face through the headrest so I love that I can breathe on my side and cuddle with a body pillow.
Dorie’s oldest daughter was home for the weekend from her freshman year in college so I had to go see her face on Saturday night. We all made burgers and salad for dinner and then sat around talking, playing games and watching season one of Sex and the City. Talk about a throwback!
The burgers were so good and the avocado sauce on top was really delicious.
Sunday was full of yoga. I taught prenatal at 11:15 and then had the teacher trainees for a couple of hours that afternoon and lectured them on warm-up sequencing. I ended the day of teaching with a hot class from 4-5.
Dorie had a small party for the super bowl but let’s be honest…I didn’t even know who was playing and really just want for Dorie’s famous artichoke dip and to see J.T. at half time. What did y’all think of the show? I’ve heard mixed reviews. I will always love him although I was more wowed by Lady Gaga last year.

I do like watching football and it was an entertaining game. Nice to see the Eagles beat the Patriots! And BTW, what on earth was Bill Belichick wearing!?
I hope y’all had a great weekend. I’ll be back tomorrow with my 27 week update.
Super Bowl…
Did you watch it?
Any good Super Bowl food?
Did you like J.T.’s performance?
