Thursday in the Life

Happy Friday. It’s been forever since I’ve done a day in the life style post. They’re always surprisingly well-received (what is it about these posts that you guys like so much!?) and yesterday was a bit of different kind of day for me so I thought I’d go with that style of post to wrap up the week.

5:20 a.m. – first alarm goes off but I turn it off. I had ambitions of writing a blog post before teaching but decided I’d rather sleep for another hour. 🙂

6:10 a.m. – second alarm goes off and I spend the next 10 minutes checking emails/social media/my pregnancy app before getting out of bed.

6:20 a.m. – wash my face, brush my teeth, throw on some clothes to teach and pack a bag with a change of clothes. (Beautiful thing about being a yoga teacher…it takes no time to get ready in the mornings. I definitely don’t wear makeup or do my hair to teach a hot class!). I leave the house at 6:30 a.m.

6:45-8 a.m. – teach a hot yoga class and clean the room after.

8:15-8:45 a.m. – shower and get ready at the studio for my 30 week OB appointment.

8:50 a.m. – grab a tall soy latte from Starbucks (one shot of Starbucks espresso = only 75 mg of caffeine!) and drive over to my appointment.

pee in a cup

9:15 a.m. – funny story, I used to absolutely dread going to the doctor and having to pee in a cup. I’d get so anxious about it that I couldn’t go! I used to have a hard time going in public bathrooms too. My grandmother always told me I had a “shy bladder.” Haha. Anyway, pregnancy has given me a whole new appreciation for the cup. The moment I arrive at the office I’m like, “can I go to the bathroom now?” Although I will say that the larger the belly gets, the more tricky this task becomes!

My appointment is quick and easy and I’m out of there in under 30 minutes. Good news…I’ve gained a few pounds, belly is measuring perfectly on track and my BH contractions have slowed enough that my doctor is feeling better about everything. I go back in two weeks.

eggs and toast

10 a.m. – arrive home starving and make a quick brunch. I’m going to be out and about the rest of the day so I tried to make something more substantial. Two eggs scrambled with some cottage cheese, avocado toast and toast with jam. Fruit on the side.

sourdough with cashew butter and banana

Decide to have one more piece of toast with cashew butter, honey and banana. 🙂

10:50 a.m. – load the girls in the car and head off to their grooming appointment.

The Dog Salon Plaza Midwood

11:05 a.m. – drop the girls off at The Dog Salon. It’s been over a year since they’ve been groomed (I’ve bathed them but they haven’t had cuts) and they were WAY overdue! I have heard great things about The Dog Salon so decided to try them out. Both of them stare me down and refuse to move as I walk out the door.

11:15 a.m. – take my car in to get looked at. The check engine light was on and a notification to add a quart of oil. I edit a ton of food photos for an upcoming recent eats post while I wait. When my guy comes to check back in with me, he tells me the check engine light is reading a freaking ton of various codes and recommends clearing it and seeing what pops back up. Nothing is a “hard code” that won’t reset. Fingers crossed. I’ve had quite a few issues with this car and might need to start considering a replacement with baby coming. Uggghhhh.

Not Just Coffee Dilworth

Noon – I have an hour before my “grooming appointment” (I had a cut and color yesterday too!) so I stop into Not Just Coffee Dilworth to push my HomeAway post live and do the Instagram post for it. It’s my first time at this Not Just Coffee location and I love it. I have a cup of ginger turmeric tea while I work.

salon 42 charlotte

1-3 p.m. – cut and color at Salon 42. I’ve been seeing Jason (he owns the salon) for 8 years and love him. He keeps my hair long and my brown, brown without turning my hair a weird purple or red shade which happens too often with dark brown color. I wouldn’t color but…grays.

I work on my laptop pretty much the entire appointment and get a lot done!

shower cap

It is pouring down rain when I leave the appointment so Jason sends me out in a shower cap so I don’t ruin my blowout. Haha.

3:15 p.m. – drive over to Ulta to replace my foundation and end up picking up a few other things like a charcoal face mask, some eyeliner and foundation primer.

common market charlotte

4:15 p.m. – drive back over to The Dog Salon to see if the girls are ready but they need another hour so I swing into Common Market to do a little more work and have a snack. I eat a bag of pita chips with some pimento cheese and wash it down with a draft Buchi Fire kombucha.

I work from home and RARELY venture outside of the house to work but I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed working in different environments yesterday. I was super focused and productive and enjoyed the energy of the various spaces as well as the change of scenery. I might need to make this happen more often!

5:30 p.m. – the girls are ready and looking so stinking cute! Look at those bows! I pick them up and we head home…finally! It’s been a long day out and I’m a homebody so I was ready to wrap it up. I talk to my grandmother on the drive home.

golden retriever grooming

When we arrive home I take a bunch of pictures of the girls before starting on dinner.

golden retriever grooming

OMG these bows are ridiculous!

golden retriever grooming

I’m surprised that the girls are totally wiped out by their grooming appointment and quickly crash after I take these photos. They are pretty worthless for the rest of the night!

One from the side to see how nice and cleaned up they are!

6:30 p.m. – I unload the dishwasher and reload it with some dirty dishes and then prep a pot of chicken, sweet potato and black bean chili before heading upstairs to relax and unwind.

charcoal face mask

I take a bath, put on PJs and then use the charcoal mask that I purchased at Ulta. I really liked it a lot!

7:30 p.m. – head back downstairs to stir the chili and spend another hour on the computer answering blog comments.

chicken chili

8:30 p.m. – dinnertime for everyone. I threw together this chicken, sweet potato and black bean chili but it turned out so well that I might need to share the recipe on my blog. It was amazing!

I spend the rest of the evening catching up on This Is Us and then reading in bed before turning the light off around 11.

Is it terrible if I say that I don’t LOVE This Is Us? I mean, it’s okay and I enjoy watching it but I don’t feel anywhere near as invested in it as I was Parenthood.

On a related note, I’ve been watching Shameless lately and holy cow…that show is so absurd that it really helps you feel a little better about your life. It couldn’t be more of a polar opposite from This Is Us!

Also loving…The Good Doctor!

Okay, that is all.

Do you enjoy working in coffee shops or other outside the office/home type places?

What are you watching on TV right now?

What did you have for dinner last night?
