It’s been a messy, messy day in our house. First, the Christmas tree and decorations came down…leaving a path of destruction.
Pine needles everywhere! I really do not enjoy “undecorating” after the holidays. It is sad and makes a mess.
Second, we went to Ikea to purchase a few new pieces of furniture for our bedroom and Brandon has been hard at work assembling everything tonight.
I am amazed that he has the patience to put this furniture together. It would drive me crazy. I think I’ve said to him, “I cant’ believe you are doing this” at least five times tonight.
Notice Sullie in background of both of these pictures. She is saying, “help me, please restore order to my home.”
How can you resist this face?
I slept until around 8:30 this morning. I am going to have a tough time adjusting to my normal schedule after all of this good holiday sleep! Brandon and I made coffee in our new French press this morning. It was a Christmas gift.
We love ordering French press when we’re out so it’s fun to have our own at home now! The coffee was strong and flavorful – just the way I like it!
The French press will be such a nice weekend treat!
I made pumpkin spice waffles for breakfast.
Pumpkin Spice Waffles
(adapted from this recipe)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (a little more if you really love the spice)
Pinch of salt
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
7/8 cup milk (1/2 a cup + 1/3 cup)
1 tablespoon butter, melted and cooled a bit
In a medium bowl, mix together flours, baking powder, baking soda, spices, salt and sugar. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, milk, pumpkin and butter. Pour wet ingredients into dry and mix until just combined.
Cook according to your waffle makers directions. My tip for perfect waffles is to let them cook until they stop steaming. This made two big Belgian waffles for us.
This is the second time I have made this recipe. It’s so easy and a tasty twist on traditional waffles.
After breakfast I got busy cleaning the house until it was time for yoga. Although I really wanted to practice today, I was a little hesitant to go to class because I thought it would be slammed. It was very crowded but manageable. I am so happy I went – 90 minutes of hot sweaty yoga was exactly what I needed today.
Post-yoga bird of paradise demo for Brandon at home. I’m starting teacher training next week! We got our list of required reading today…it’s all sinking in. This is really happening, and soon!
I had a quick snack before we went to Ikea.
Half of an apple with cinnamon and peanut butter.
This did nothing to quell my hunger. Brandon and I were both starving in Ikea and the smell of cinnamon rolls did not help matters. We made dinner as soon as we got home.
Brandon had leftover spaghetti with arrabbita sauce and I had baked mahi seasoned with Shakin’ the Tree, brown rice and a salad.
And I’m off to make my playlist for BodyPump tomorrow morning and get in bed. Can’t wait to see all those new faces in my class! 😀
It’s back to the normal grind tomorrow. I leave you with more cuteness! She will have a hard time adjusting to us not being home all the time since once of us has been with her during the day for the last couple weeks.
