Weekend Part 1: iPhones & Handstands

Hi there. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Here is a look at the first part of mine in photos.

11.8coffee

Somehow I lasted until 4 p.m. with NO COFFEE on Friday. I deserve a medal. I swung by Starbucks on my way to run errands and treated myself to a soy latte. First holiday cup of the season!

11.10iphone

The main reason for the errands was to go to the Verizon store. I had to get a new iPhone. I was still using the iPhone 4 that I’ve had for two and a half years. I’ve dropped it so many times, replaced the screen and cracked it again. The phone had reached the point where I could only use the speakerphone feature to talk because the sensors and sound were messed up. So I forked over a hefty sum at Verizon but left with a shiny new iPhone 5. I decided to get black instead of white and accepted that even though it’s not the sexiest case ever, the Otterbox is the way to go for me right now given my track record. (If anyone knows of a sleeker case that actually helps with dropping, please let me know!) So far I’m pleased with the new iPhone. It’s super fast and the display is really clear and crisp. And you can’t beat the cloud back up. I had this thing up and running in 15 minutes like nothing had ever changed.

11.8dinnerplate

Dinner at a friend’s house on Friday night. Lots of delicious but healthy stuff…salad with homemade carrot ginger dressing (SO GOOD!), grilled steak, grilled chicken, creamed spinach, eggplant and roasted cauliflower. I had all this + double the meat and spinach.

11.9break

I got up early on Saturday morning and was really productive before yoga. Breakfast was apple cinnamon oatmeal and coffee while I worked.

I had a great practice. We worked on handstands into vinyasa so I made a video. We also worked on handstand to flying splits and that was NOT video worthy! It was like handstand to right side flop. 😛

11.9salad

Lunch after class was a salad with mixed greens, smoked salmon, avocado, goat cheese, toasted pecans, carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes with homemade honey dijon balsamic. Also, a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie sandwich from Whole Foods. I spent the next five hours planted in front of the computer working on a big project.

Speaking of sitting in front of the computer, it’s 70 and sunny here this afternoon so I’m off for a quick run. I’ll be back later with weekend part 2!

I recently upgraded to the iphone 5s, and got the otterbox also. I don’t trust myself and need to make sure my phone is protected!

Lifeproof case is the way to go. Drop-proof AND waterproof. It’s thinner & lighter than the otterbox (&works better. I broke my otterbox)!

Love productive mornings on the weekends! It is such a great way to start the day…It was 75 degrees and sunny in Houston today and it was just fabulous…Loving this Texas weather. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! XOXO

Lifeproof is pricey but a great, low profile case that offers great protection. My 10 month old has thrown my phone numerous times and my phone is still great.

AMAZING handstand. I am still working on the wall with mine. I loved your last post too but my computer wouldn’t let me comment. I love that you have such good girlfriends. They are our true soul mates in life. xoxo

I don’t know what your main problem with the phone is…but if it’s a matter of your phone slipping through your hands because the case’s surface is slippery, I recommend a case with a textured surface, like the one I have from Aritzia

I have a super cute bright pink one. I used to drop my phone all the time because I had a slippery Kate Spade case. Haven’t had a problem since! And I got mine (for my 4) on clearance for around $7!

Can’t recommend the lifeproof enough!! I used to have an otterbox, the lifeproof is sturdier and thinner, too.

Although I have switched from the iPhone for the Galaxy (and seriously love it so much more!), this vendor on Etsy has the BEST cases! https://www.etsy.com/shop/ingridsart?ref=l2-shop-header-avatar

You have the option to get a “vibe” case which is the tough case from Case Mate. It’s super slim but comes with a rubber liner to help with shock absorption. I have one on my Galaxy and LOVE it. If anything happened to it, I would buy from Ingrid again in a heartbeat! And it only took 5 days total, from ordering to it being in my mailbox.

    Hope that helps!

I have a Speck case which has grippy bits on it to make it more tactile and seems accident-proof (I have killed phones in gym showers, washing machines etc before) and very durable. I also have the case for my laptop, and for my iPad and have saved them both from numerous accidents, so the brand seems pretty reliable. Plus you can choose from loads of different funky colour schemes!
