My Five Year BodyPump Anniversary + Wine Wednesday & Erin McDermott Fabulousness

It was so interesting to read everyone’s take on introvert v. extrovert. Reader Laurie encouraged me to check out Susan Cain’s book, “Quiet” and also to listen to her TED talk about the power of introverts. I will definitely be using one of my Audible credits for Quiet and I’ll let you all know what I think. Laurie said it changed her life. In the meantime, watch her TED Talk. I love these things and frequently listen to the TED Radio Hour while I’m running or walking with Sullie.

My Wednesday night was pretty lovely. I took a friend’s yoga class and then went over to her house after to hang out and chat.

8.22chocolate

We ate sushi, drank yummy Spanish and Argentinean wine (highly, highly recommend both Alamos Malbec and Honoro Vera Granacha for great tasting value reds). I also picked up a couple interesting chocolate bars. One peanut butter and banana milk chocolate Β and another goji berry and pink sea salt. Yoga + wine + chocolate + sushi on a Wednesday night? I’m a lucky girl.

8.22erin

I taught a yoga private this morning and then walked over to see Erin McDermott to pick up my August Luxe Box item. As always, she had so much amazing jewelry to choose from.

8.22earrings

I ended up taking these colorful earrings home with me. My eye was instantly drawn to them so rather than spend all day trying things on and trying to make a decision, I went with my gut. I like the months better when Erin picks for me! πŸ™‚

8.22erinsukie

I love chatting with Erin and visiting with her cute and cuddly bulldog, Sukie.

8.22salad

Lunch today was a salad with mixed greens, arugula, pecans, beets, dried cranberries, goat cheese and salmon with balsamic. It’s one of my all time favorite salad combos.

Guess who is actually on her way to go teach BodyPump!? Did you forget I even do that? The group schedule shifted at the Y so we’re now on rotations with our co-instructors rather than teaching every week together so I only teach a couple of times a month now. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve Pumped so I’m going to be all kinds of sore tomorrow. I can’t wait to teach! I love this class so much. I’ve been teaching BodyPump for FIVE years this August. It was the first group class I ever started teaching and I’ve now been through 20 releases. Crazy! πŸ™‚

Have a wonderful evening!

I absolutely love the book Quiet. It was such a revelation to me and really helped me to come to terms with my introverted side and not feel bad because I am more withdrawn or quieter. It’s interesting because half of my extended family is very extroverted, while the other half is more introverted life myself. I love her message of how introverts are absolutely vital in society and should be appreciated.

Kinsey, I am the reader Jen is speaking about, and I agree with you. I felt that I was “wrong” all the time because I, too, live in a family of extroverts! My whole extended family, in fact, so huge get-togethers were always… interesting.

Great book … so far! I’ve had it for about a year and I’m about halfway through. Doesn’t reflect on the book itself, sometimes it just takes me forever to finish nonfiction books!

I love BP release 77! Ever since I started lifting heavy though, I have only been going to pump once every week and a half or so. Um yeah, I definitely feel it the day after. Such a different kind of sore. πŸ™‚

The jewelry is super cute, especially those earrings. You are very lucky to have such wonderful friends to chat with on a random Wednesday night over sushi, wine, and chocolate. Now I want sushi > making dinner. I guess lucky for my budget, I live further away from our favorite spot.

Just watched that Ted talk and it was so reinforcing and inspiring! I’m an introvert as well who’s worked in various public-facing capacities – teaching yoga, giving presentations to my marketing clients, etc – and its so validating to know that its not weird or unusual to have the solitude-seeking tendencies I have. Thanks so much for sharing.

I loved that TED talk! The manfriend and I just watched the entire thing. As a slight extrovert, it makes sense why I really am not a fan of our modern, open offices that don’t allow for any privacy, moments of quiet thought, etc. πŸ™‚
