What I Bought at ALDI

It has been forever since I’ve done a grocery haul post, much less one from ALDI. I used to partner with ALDI regularly on blog posts and my time working with them totally converted me into a fan of the brand, especially given all the work they’ve done over the last few years to improve their products and their stores.

Here’s a fun flashback to when I visited the ALDI headquarters and won a smoothie making challenge! 🙂

There is an ALDI pretty close to my house and I’ve been stopping in there 2-3 times a month to do some shopping.

You might remember that I was there a couple of weeks ago and got sucked into their Special Buys section. It is way too much fun to wander through it and find all sorts of things you never knew you needed. Haha.

I took pictures of what I bought yesterday. They are not the greatest photos you’ve ever seen on my blog but you do what you can with a baby who does not care that you are trying to take grocery haul photos! I was holding him on one hip while trying to one-handed arrange the groceries and shoot the photos.

SNACKY STUFF

  • Pipe rigate pasta (this should have gone in the pantry photo but oh well)
  • Organic cheese crackers
  • Organic multi-grain tortilla chips
  • Sea salt pita chips
  • Shelled pistachios
  • HOPE hummus – I was SO thrilled to see them carrying this brand!!!
  • Organic natural peanut butter

FRUITS + VEGGIES

I didn’t need much this week…

  • Bananas
  • Avocados
  • Organic baby spinach
  • Organic grapes (these were priced SO well!)
  • Radishes (still dreaming of this cottage cheese bowl)

MEATS + CHEESES

  • Tomato and basil chicken sausage
  • Organic colby jack slices
  • Organic Mexican shredded blend
  • Single serve miso dressing packets (I am SO excited to try these!!!)
  • Sweet Italian turkey sausage (to go with pasta and sauce you see below)
  • Oven roasted turkey breast slices
  • Prosciutto (priced SO well!)

PANTRY STUFF

  • Organic fire roasted salsa
  • Organic chicken broth
  • Tide Free + Clear
  • Organic coconut oil
  • Marinated artichoke quarters
  • Organic diced tomatoes
  • Sponges
  • Pumpkin pasta sauce
  • Pesto
  • Chunk white tuna in water

And that’s all! My next grocery haul post will be from Trader Joe’s because I want to go buy allllll of their fall things! 🙂

I love their Never Any sausages like the ones you purchased. I also used to buy their diapers when my son used them and they worked so well, even for overnights (this is when he was near potty training though so I dont know how well they hold up for lots of wee). I always get their organic maple syrup for my little guy and their organic whole milk plain yogurt.

Yes! I love grocery haul posts. Keep ‘em coming!

I have stopped at Aldi on a few occasions and each time I have been terrible disappointed in the quality of the products and honestly I felt like the cereal I purchased tasted like the box and all of the fruits and vegetables were all bruised. Do you think that the quality of products have changed in the last year or has it been something that you thought changed a couple of years ago? I don’t want to waste money trying again.

I have found their stores vary greatly within cities, let alone regions. I’m in an area where there are a few and only one “good” one that I find most staples at and where the produce is fresh, with a greater variety. It can be hit or miss, so I know I always have to plan to go to Sprouts/Publix/Trader Joe’s to supplement. When it’s a good day- it is a good place to shop!

This is so interesting. Thanks for sharing your take Shannon!

Yes, I love grocery hauls way too much. Unfortunately there are no ALDI’s close to me or I’d totally go there for produce. I just hit up Trader Joe’s yesterday and am counting down the days until all of their fall stuff comes in.

I live in Florida and it’s already pumpkinmania at my Trader Joe’s ! I agree, grocery haul posts are awesome!

I used to LOVE their pita chips but they’ve changed in the past few months and are nowhere near as good 🙁
I still love ALDI and make at least 3 stops there per month for produce.

I also noticed a change with the pita chips and the taste in the almond milk. Don’t like them so much anymore!

I love the grocery haul posts! I just went to Aldi last weekend and got the Hope hummus. I got the Thai Coconut Curry! It was so good! I was excited to see it and was telling my friend that I first saw it on your blog!! ha ha! I also got their black & white bean chips which were pretty tasty.

    • Aimee September 19, 2018, 3:25 pm

I bought the pumpkin chip dippers and love them!

I also love grocery haul posts! No ALDI near me (sadface) but I’ve been holding out on a TJ’s run until they get all their pumpkin/fall items in – I plan to go next week after a mini vacation and I am SO excited!! 🙂 Can’t wait to see that haul from you!

Do practically all my grocery shopping there. The only product that has disappointed was Radiance dishwasher detergent.

I loveee grocery haul posts. Sometimes I get stuck in a rut and need meal prep ideas. I just went to Trader Joe’s last night. I picked up:
    – Misto Alla Griglia (frozen Mediterranean-style vegetable mix)
    – Cauliflower gnocchi
    – Mashed cauliflower
    – Shrimp stir-fry
    – Sweet apple chicken sausage
    – Ground turkey
    – Coconut creamer
    – Guacamole
    – Frozen plantains
    – Freeze dried raspberries
    – Slivered almonds
    – Chai tea
    – Delicata squash (99 cents each right now)

I was sad to see (at least in Minnesota) they don’t have cruciferous crunch salad mix anymore.
