On Sunday I bid farewell to this stuff…

Of course I had to go out with a bang. This is a carrot cake whoopie pie with cream cheese filling. My heart skips a beat just looking at it. It tasted better than it even looks.
On Monday I said hello to this stuff.

Protein, veggies, good carbs. Y’all know that I am all about eating ALL foods but about quarterly I like to take a couple of weeks to get back to really clean eating. Kinda like a little reset button.

That doesn’t mean I don’t still eat and eat good. Check out my lunch concoction on Monday. Spinach, lentils, quinoa, avocado, butternut squash, goat cheese and beets.

And check out today’s lunch skillet. I sauteed ground white turkey, green peppers, chard, cherry tomatoes, avocado and leftover brussels with some shredded cheddar and salsa verde. Looks like a mess, tasted delicious and fueled me through my afternoon.

I’ve been drinking lots of ginger tea (helps with digestion).

And smoothies every morning for breakfast. My latest favorite has been peanut butter and jelly. I had a request on Facebook for the recipe so here’s how I’ve been putting it together.
Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie
1/2 to 1 banana
1/2 cup blueberries (could sub other berries too)
1/2 cup almond milk
1 cup ice
Scoop of protein powder (Raw Organice Whey)
2 tablespoons peanut butter
It’s delicious and very PB & J tasting!
Just finished coaching CrossFit and teaching yoga at Metro and now it’s time for a sushi date with a friend! Have a great night!
Carrot cake whoopie pie!!! OMG
it was SOOOOO OMG!
It is always nice to press the reset button. It’s a good time of year to do this as well. I consider Spring a re-birth for so many things. Don’t ever though fully eliminate that whoopie pie out of your life. I have never heard of such a combo and it sounds AMAZING! ๐
i agree about spring. and you know that i will never forever bid farewell to whoopie pies, ice cream, cupcakes, etc… ๐
Yum! I like the sounds of that smoothie and I love the looks of these “cleaner” eats! ๐
Smoothie is calling my name, but will have to wait for breakfast tomorrow.
one can never go wrong with peanut butter! works in smoothie form too! ๐
I think a reset button is a good idea and I should probably adopt it because you can start eating a lot more junk over time without keeping things in check.
Your eats look like my eats! Delicious and healthy!
Yes! I love PB&J smoothies. I’ve been making mine with almond butter & brazil nuts lately. ๐
oh, yummy spin on it!
I just can’t get into Smoothies. I try and try, but they just don’t do it for me. I guess I prefer to chew my food?! I am a firm believer in a reset. I actually reset on Christmas Day and haven’t missed any of the holiday treats I consumed. I usually need another reset after my annual summer cruise! Chocolate buffet…. ;o)
i hear ya. i am really on and off with them. i either get in a groove where i’m making them all the time or don’t have them at all. i do find that i start to crave them more when the weather gets nicer. also, i like them for breakfast or afternoon snack with protein powder. when i have them for breakfast i usually end up having a slice of PB toast or eating some almonds mid morning for a snack.
Ummm..yum! I’m making that smoothie asap!
That smoothie looks amazing. I am getting back into eating better so this is all good motivation!
I like the idea of kind of cleaning up the diet for a few weeks at a time. That seems more sustainable than ridding your entire life of junk food or something. I may have to try this! However, that carrot cake whoopie pie looks amazing.
it works really well for me as a reminder of how i want my base of eating to be. then i add back in the splurges. sometimes i just get too heavy with the splurges and find myself wanting something sweet after every single meal and just eating too much and too processed.
i could never give up the splurge stuff for good though. you gotta live a little!
I’m doing the same thing right now! Whenever race season starts I clean up the diet, cut out the alcohol and really buckle down. A lot of my friends still think I’m crazy but I don’t mind giving up things for a six week stretch when I can see the difference in my body and feel the difference in my runs.
i totally agree! it’s helps workout performance so much!
Every picture looks delicious! I have a sweet tooth but majority of my diet is clean. Those lunches look like mine! I wish I could get into drinking smoothies but I like to chew my food. I made one recently however and I swear I felt great after. They do say the body absorbs the nutrients differently when blended. Ugh, I have to try drinking them more often.
Just the motivation I needed to press on with clean eating ๐ Thanks, Jen!
Thank you so much for the recipe! ๐ (I was your FB requestor) ๐ I drink green smoothies daily, so this will be a nice change!
This smoothie has become a favorite in our house! Thanks for sharing”
yay! happy to hear it. i just had one this morning! ๐
