7 Of My Favorite Workout Sets

I have never really been the type to wear matching workout sets…until recently! The last couple of years I have gotten into the matching set trend. I like feeling more put together at the gym – especially since I have gone back to personal training and spend so much time at the gym with my clients.

7 OF MY FAVORITE WORKOUT SETS

For many years, I pretty much exclusively wore lululemon when it came to both athletic wear and athleisure. Lately, I’ve become a big fan of other fitness brands and while you’ll still find lululemon in this recap, you’ll also see sets from NOBULL, Born Primitive, Athleta and Alo.

Here’s seven workout sets you can find me wearing all the time + what unique details that I love about each and sizing notes.

NOBULL FORM APPAREL

NOBULL form apparel line

I recently did a collaboration with NOBULL on Instagram for their new Form Apparel line and it’s awesome! Form Apparel features a new material for NOBULL that has a super smooth and next-to-skin feel along with all the flexy stretchiness. I love this set – especially the bra!!!

A few sizing notes…

  • I got a small in the bra and shorts. I like a more generous fit on a bra but I wish I’d sized down to an XS in the shorts.
  • I wear a size 8 in NOBULL shoes. For comparison, I wear an 8.5 in Brooks, Ons and Nikes.

NOBULL MATTE

NOBULL matte apparel set

This matte set from NOBULL has become a go-to. It’s crazy soft and I can wear it all day and not feel overly squeezed or compressed. The v-neck design of the bra is flattering and it’s easy to move around in. The tights stay put and I’m not constantly pulling them up.

I’m wearing a small in both and it fits well. I could size to an XS in leggings.

BORN PRIMITIVE

Born Primitive workout set

I LOVE THIS SET! The feel of the material is sleek and it hugs in all the right ways. I am obsessed with the back of the sports bra. I never thought I’d be a socks over leggings kinda girl but here we are. It works great with these tights!

I’m wearing a small in each and the size is perfect.

LULULEMON SWIFT SPEED

lululemon workout set

This lululemon set features my one of my all-time favorite bra styles – the Energy Bra – and their Swift Speed tights. The Swift Speed tights are on their way out but you can get a great deal right now through final sale. The tights have a very compressive feel and they do not move one bit while wearing. They’re technically designed for running but I wear them for lifting too.

I wear a 6 in lululemon bras because again, I like a roomier feel. I wear a 4 in bottoms.

LULULEMON WUNDER UNDER TRAIN

Lululemon Wunder Train

Another appearance of the Energy Bra, this time in a regular fit and not a longline, paired with lululemon’s Wunder Train hi-rise tights. These tights are a perfect everyday training pant and feature a compressive feel with fast-drying fabric.

ALO AIRLIFT COLLECTION

Alo Airlift collection set

I don’t know how I made it this long without owning any Alo workout apparel but I am a convert! I received this Airlift Collection set as a birthday gift and I’ve been wearing it at least once a week ever since. The Airlift leggings feature a compressive fit that truly hugs and smooths. The Airlift fabric has a subtle flattering sheen. I love this set for lifting and yoga but I’d choose my lululemon leggings for a run.

One thing I love about Alo is their color selections. They crush it on neutrals! While we’re talking about Alo, I also ADORE their Accolade Hoodie. It’s my top hoodie choice at the moment.

I am wearing a small in the bra and an extra small in the leggings.

ATHLETA SALUTATION

Athleta Salutation Stash Shorts

Another bandwagon I never thought I’d be on is biker shorts but here I am an absolute card-carrying member of the biker short club. I was influenced to get Athleta’s Satultation Stash 5″ shorts by fellow blogger Janae and they’re so good!

I’m now addicted to side pocket bike shorts for running and hiking. They’re perfect for holding my phone, gels, water and whatever else I need to carry with me. I’ll write a separate post dedicated to my favorite biker-style shorts haha.

I am wearing an XS in the shorts and a small in the bra.

QUESTIONS

Do you wear matching workout sets?

Do you typically go for shorts or leggings? Or does it depend on the activity?

What are your current favorite athletic wear lines?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
