Day in the Life at 8 Months

It’s been a hot second since I wrote a day in the life post. I didn’t even plan one for today but once I was snuggling with Finn on the couch at the end of the day, I realized it was a perfect day to capture!

5:30 a.m. – Finn wakes up and wants to nurse. I bring him in bed with me, feed him and coax him into snoozing with me a little longer. (Who else loves these early morning snuggles!? BEST EVER!)

7:30 a.m. – after snoozing my alarm a few times, I finally get up and open the blinds. Finn wakes up and as soon as he cracks his eyes open, gives me the sweetest grins. I love how happy he is when he wakes up in the morning.

8 a.m. – after dressing myself and Finn, we are downstairs and making coffee and breakfast. I have a smoothie bowl, Finn has a Dave’s Killer Bread cinnamon raisin bagel with almond butter. He mostly just licks the almond butter off the bagel pieces.

8:45 a.m. – we both get bundled up (it was 20-something degrees out!) and get in the car. I teach a 9:15-10:30 a.m. yoga class on Tuesday mornings at the Cornwell Center. Finn comes along and hangs out in the infant area of drop-in childcare.

11 a.m. – we are back home and I get Finn down for a nap. While he’s napping I get some work done. I hoped to also squeeze in this 17-minute kettlebell workout…but he woke up before that could happen. Oh well!

1 p.m. – I make lunch for both of us. I have mashed sweet potato, sauerkraut, two eggs scrambled in butter with Be Runa Seed Salt and half an avocado. Finn has sweet potato, avocado, egg yolk and white bites and cheese.

2 p.m. – I have session with my therapist. Finn comes along. It is a really good session and I am so grateful for her. If you’re in the Charlotte/Matthews area and need a referral, please reach out to me.

3:15 p.m. – Finn and I run into the grocery store to grab a few things. Finn is in such a good mood and smiling and talking to everyone.

4 p.m. – back at home, I nurse Finn and then we hang out in the glider together for about 30 minutes. I love playing with him, making faces at him and making him giggle.

4:30 p.m. – we head out on a family walk. Finn sleeps for most of the one hour walk. He usually takes more of a defined morning and afternoon nap in his crib but we were off schedule a little today. Luckily, he was still in a great mood and happy all day. While walking, I listen to Michelle Obama’s book Becoming and chat with my dad for 20 minutes. We cover a little over 3 miles.

5:45 p.m. – back at home, I shower and get in PJs and then give Finn at bath and get him in PJs.

6:20 p.m. – I prep my dinner and then feed Finn his dinner. He gets leftover PaleOMG Pizza Spaghetti Pie that I made on Sunday night and LOVES it. He eats lots of bites of the spaghetti squash mixture and the chicken sausage!

6:45 p.m. – we have quiet cuddle time on the couch while chatting with my grandmother for 15 minutes. I like to wind Finn down and relax together before putting him down. I’ve found he goes down much easier this way. I cover both of us in a blanket, turn on the TV and give him his paci. It’s a sweet time for us.

7:15 p.m. – I take Finn upstairs. We read a children’s devotional and a book (currently cannot get enough of this one) and then I rock him and put him down.

7:30 p.m. – I eat my dinner and it’s SO good! Chicken thighs baked in Trader Joe’s Almond Butter Turmeric Dressing along with roasted cauliflower and brussels sprouts with chopped bacon. Adding the bacon totally takes the sprouts to the next level.

8 p.m. – Edit photos for this post and then start writing.

Next up…I will answer a few emails and then head upstairs to watch another episode of YOU in bed and read a bit. I am totally sucked into YOU! I asked for Netflix recommendations on my PBR Facebook page and got some great ideas! Check them out!

While I am so excited to be back in a steady work and teaching groove, I am also crazy grateful for these days where I get to focus so much time on Finn. He brings me an incredible amount of joy and too many smiles to count every single day.

Off to wrap up those emails so that I can Netflix and read! 🙂

What are you watching on Netflix?

What did you have for dinner on Tuesday night?

Moab Run The Rocks Race Recap (3 Day Stage Race)

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks! TransRockies truly excels when it comes to planning and [...]
