My Go-To Smoothie with 50 Grams of Protein

This post is sponsored by Naked Nutrition but the good thoughts and excitement are all my own! I have loved and partnered with this brand for years!

I crave smoothies 365 days a year – it doesn’t matter the weather or the season. I just find smoothies to be incredibly satisfying, delicious and effective for packing a ton of nutrients into one quick and easy-to-get-down cup.

I will oftentimes drink a smoothie for breakfast and I also love them for post-workout recovery after a run or lifting session.

HOW TO MAKE A SMOOTHIE WITH OVER 50 GRAMS OF PROTEIN

smoothie with 50 grams of protein

In one cup I can get multiple servings of fruit and vegetables along with protein, carbs and fat. I make my smoothies so that they have true staying power by adding things like high-quality protein powder, chia seeds, full fat greek yogurt, nut butter and more.

We all know that protein is having a moment right now so I wanted to tell you about the protein powder that I am using in all of my smoothies. A serving of this protein + my other added ingredients yields me a smoothie with over 50 grams of protein. What an amazing way to start the day or recover from a workout!

NAKED WHEY ISO PROTEIN POWDER REVIEW

naked whey isolate

I have been a very long-time fan of Naked Nutrition (read my post about their Naked Whey protein here) so I was very excited to try their new Naked Whey Iso. If you’re wondering what the difference between whey protein and why isolate is – great question!

  • Whey isolate undergoes a more intense filtration process that further separates the protein from things like fat and lactose.
  • The result is a “purer” product that is higher in protein and lower in fat and carbs than traditional whey protein. Naked Whey Isolate has 30 grams of protein per serving with 0 grams of sugar, 4 grams of carbs and 140 calories.
  • Because of this advanced filtration, whey isolate tends to contain less lactose so it can be a good option for those with lactose sensitivities. Naked Whey Iso has less than 0.1 grams of lactose per serving!

I always know that I can trust any products I get from Naked Nutrition will be of the highest quality. They now offer over 100 products ranging from protein powders to creatine to overnight oats to preworkout and much, much more. Many of these products contain only a handful of ingredients.

Here are a few highlights of Naked Whey Iso that I especially appreciate:

  • Overall, it’s one of the cleanest protein powders on the market
  • It’s made from pasture-fed cows’ milk from dairy farms in New Zealand and there’s no acid or bleach used in the processing
  • No artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors and also GMO, soy and gluten free
  • 6.5 grams of BCAA’s per serving
  • Growth hormone free – no rBGH or rBST
  • Blends super smoothly into my smoothies and the vanilla flavor that I chose tastes amazing! Naked Whey Iso is currently available in vanilla, chocolate and unflavored.

MY GO-TO SMOOTHIE RECIPE WITH OVER 50 GRAMS OF PROTEIN!

Here’s how I make my smoothie with over 50 grams of protein!

  • 1 cup 2% milk (8 grams of protein)
  • 1/4 cup plain full-fat greek yogurt (5 grams of protein)
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds (5 grams of protein)
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter (3.5 grams of protein)
  • 1 medjool date
  • 2 cups of frozen fruits and vegetables (bananas, mangos, blueberries, spinach, cauliflower rice, cherries, etc)
  • 2 scoops of Naked Whey Iso Vanilla Flavored protein powder (30 grams of protein)

HOT TIP! Wait to add your protein powder at the very end once all of the other ingredients are blended together. Add the two scoops and let the blender run until they are just combined. This will help you avoid the smoothie that is too fluffy/airy in texture.

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
