25 Recipes I Want To Try This Fall

The change of seasons has really lit a spark in my motivation to get into the kitchen and do some cooking and baking. I have a growing list of recipes that I want to try and I thought it would be fun to share them here with you guys. I love a good recipe round up and having a bunch of food inspiration all in one place. Many of these recipes are fall/seasonal but some I’ve just had saved or tagged for a while and now seems like a good time to get around to making them. Some are old favorites that I’ve already shared on my blog that I have found myself craving.

25 RECIPES I WANT TO TRY THIS FALL

recipe book

On a related note, I would appreciate hearing how you keep track of the recipe that you save/want to try. Would you believe that I used to paste recipes into a notebook that I’d printed from the internet or cut from food magazines? I’d then make written notes about what I thought about the recipes after trying them.

These days, the Instagram save feature seems to be the way I catalog the most recipes but that doesn’t work for recipes that I come across in other ways online or in print. Would love to hear if you have a suggestion for a visually pleasing way to organize them all because it’s so handy to have them to scroll through when I’m trying to decide what to cook!

Shepherd's Pie

Shepherd’s Pie with Cauliflower Topping

DINNERS

Crunchy Roll Bowls from Pinch of Yum – I consider POY to be one of my most trusted food blogs when it comes to recipe quality. It’s honestly rare that they post anything that I don’t want to make. I am a sucker for tofu recipes and this one looks divine.

Skillet Chicken in Creamy Sherry Vinegar Sauce from Slice of Jess – I am here for any saucy recipe with chicken and mushrooms. Jess is a local Charlotte blogger and I can’t wait to try this dish!

Saucy Gochujang Noodles with Chicken from Pinch of Yum – another POY and cannot wait to taste this! I’m excited to try Gochujang for the first time!

Turmeric and Coconut Braised Cabbage with Chickpeas from Bon Appetit – everything about this sounds like heaven to me – meatless meal, cabbage, coconut milk, warm spices, chickpeas…yum!

Chicken in a Pot with Lemon Orzo from Food & Wine – I welcome all the ways to cook a whole chicken on top of other ingredients. So much flavor.

Shepherd’s Pie with Cauliflower Topping from my blog – I’ve posted a lot of good recipes on my blog but this one is up there in my all-time favorites. Comfort food with a healthier twist. I actually developed and shared this recipe on a Whole30 but you’d never know it by the taste of the dish!

Marinated Chicken and Noodles from A Healthy Slice of Life – Brittany has raved about this family recipe of hers for so long that I can’t not try it. I’m so excited!

Cabbage Rolls from Spend with Pennies – cabbage rolls will forever remind me of my grandmother. Little known fact but she has Hungarian roots on her mom’s side. I’ve never tried Spend with Pennies’ recipe but it sounds really good and authentic. I’m also going to ask my grandmother if she remembers what recipe she used.

fresh apple cake

Fresh Apple Cake

BAKING

Maple Brown Sugar Cookies from Sally’s Baking Blog – I’ve had this bookmarked for two falls now…time to make them!

Apple Pie Skillet Cake from Real Simple – I know I already mentioned this recipe in a previous post but that’s how much I’m looking forward to making it!

Browned Butter Pecan Cookies from Foodtasia – I had a brown butter pecan cookie at a bakery recently that blew my mind. It was so thick, chewy and decadent. Must recreate ASAP and hoping this recipe will get me close.

Fresh Apple Cake from my blog – not a fall can pass by without an apple cake being baked.

Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls from Ambitious Kitchen – I’ve been craving cinnamon rolls something serious and word on the street is that you can’t sleep on the recipe from Ambitious Kitchen. I am going to branch out and try her pumpkin version. I’ll report back!

butternut squash soup

Carrot Butternut Ginger Soup

SOUPS/STEWS/CHILIS

Chicken Paprikash Soup from Real Simple – this looks like a fun Hungarian twist on chicken noodle soup

Pumpkin Chicken Chili from A Healthy Slice of Life – another recipe that Brittany has blogged about so much that I have to try!

Ginger Coconut Chicken Brown Rice Soup from Ambitious Kitchen – I don’t know why but I am craving chicken soups like crazy but looking to branch out from traditional chicken noodle or chicken and rice. Love the addition of ginger and coconut milk to this soup.

Cozy Autumn Wild Rice Soup from Gimme Some Oven – SIGN ME UP! This looks like a dream.

Carrot Butternut Ginger Soup from my blog – this is another fall/winter standby that I make over and over and over again. It’s so healthy and so tasty.

Kimchi Stew from My Korean Kitchen – this is my wildcard recipe of the soup round up but so intriguing. I love kimchi and have been trying to include more fermented foods into my diet. Will report back.

Kitchari from Real + Vibrant – this is a very simple but nourishing recipe that has origins in Ayurveda. Kitchari has the texture of porridge and is a mixture of basmati rice and yellow moong dal (split mung beans) that are simmered in spices such as turmeric, cumin seeds, ginger, and black pepper. This is such a wonderful dish to have on hand for an easy and healthy lunch or dinner.

kale salad with butternut squash, pears and goat cheese

Brussel Sprout and Kale Salad with Butternut Squash, Pears and Goat Cheese

OTHER INTERESTING THINGS

Cauliflower Toast from Ina Garten – OMG. I saw this on Instagram and almost drooled on the screen. This is genius and I pray it lives up to the hype.

Smoky Butternut Kale Salad with Goat Cheese and Apricot Vinaigrette from How Sweet Eats – fall salads make me so happy and I love the combo of the smoky squash with the sweet apricot vinaigrette here.

Farro with Greens, Tahini Sauce and Toasted Pine Nuts from Food52 – this one is simple but I know it’s gong to be so good. I can also imagine myself building off of this combo by adding winter squash, roast chicken, etc.

Brussel Sprout and Kale Salad with Butternut Squash, Pears, Goat Cheese and Balsamic Date Vinaigrette from my blog – It’s been years since I made this but I took this salad to Thanksgiving one year and it was a huge hit. The balsamic date vinaigrette is so good.

Chai-Spiced Granola from Minimalist Baker – I haven’t made homemade granola in far too long. This is a fun fall/winter recipe to add to yogurt bowls or fall smoothie bowls.

I really enjoyed pulling the recipes together for this post and sharing them with you!
