Currently (December 2022 Holiday Edition)

I feel like I have lots of little things to share with you guys so it popped into my mind to do a “Currently”-style blog post with a little bit of a holiday twist. My last Currently was back in May and these are always fun posts to write and read.

CURRENTLY READING

I just started Last One To Know by Barbara Freethy. My grandmother put it on our shared Kindle and it sounded interesting. I’m only a few chapters in but it’s quickly grabbed my attention and seems to be an easy read.

I’m still trying to make my way through my fall/winter reading list and recently finished We Begin at the End. This was not an easy read and I struggled to get through it. Overall, I found the story to be sad/depressing and while my heart ached for all that Robin and Duchess went through, I had a difficult time connecting to Duchess. There were many things she said and did that were just unbelievable for a 13-year-old character.

Would love to hear your thoughts on We Begin at the End if you’ve read it.

CURRENTLY IN THE MARKET FOR

holiday stockings

Stocking stuffers! I wrapped up most of my holiday shopping this week in a two-day online shopping extravaganza but I need to get stocking stuffers for Finn and my grandmother’s stockings.

What are your favorite stocking stuffers?

CURRENTLY DRINKING

numi rooibos chai

Lots of hot tea! I recently picked up this Numi herbal rooibos chai at Whole Foods and it’s the perfect cold weather tea. So full of warm spices. I love the smell and taste of it – and that it’s caffeine-free. If you’re a fan of chai flavor, I definitely recommend trying this tea.

CURRENTLY CRAVING

puzzle and hot chocolate

Cozy nights at home with homemade hot chocolate and decorations and puzzles or Christmas movies. I just love having all the lights and decorations up. I just started this 1000 piece Santa puzzle last night. It took me over an hour to sort all of the pieces! It’s my first solo 1000 piece!

CURRENTLY WATCHING

falling for Christmas

I’m just here for all of the cheesy Christmas movies. This one with Lindsay Lohan was so bad that it was good.

CURRENTLY WISHING FOR

jen eddins fitness

The re-launch of my online fitness platform to be successful. We are pouring so much work into making it better and more robust than ever and I CANNOT WAIT to share it with you guys! I am genuinely so excited about what I am offering. We plan to go live in the next few weeks. You can drop your email here for updates and special pricing offers.

We = me and my business partner. I’m the fitness/creative one and he’s the brains behind making it all happen from a tech, business and logistical standpoint. I am so lucky to have his support and knowledge. Our skill sets are completely different and completely complimentary.

CURRENTLY LISTENING TO

  • I just finished listening to The Mountain Is You (it was on my fall reading list). I found it to be super powerful and a great end of the year listen as I spent time thinking about what I want to do and how I want to feel in 2023.
  • The Jane Fonda episode on We Can Do Hard Things is a must-listen. I cried real tears at one point while I was out on a run. What an incredible lady. It also inspired me to jump back into Grace and Frankie. Such a feel-good show.
  • Of course I’ve been spending time with my top songs of 2022 on Spotify. I love Spotify Wrapped season! 🙂 Note, my top songs are an eclectic mix of things Finn listened to on repeat, songs I played in my yoga classes and my own personal favorites. My number one most-played song of the year is My Own Drum from Vivo. Haha.

CURRENTLY INDULGING IN

Barry's bootcamp Charlotte

Taking a weekly Barry’s class. I know I just mentioned this in my post last week but I’m having so much fun with it! I took Chelsea’s class this morning. We’ve followed each other on Instagram for a long time and it was great to finally meet her in person and take her class. Her energy is awesome and class was a sweaty good time.

CURRENTLY FEELING BLESSED BY

This answer will never change. <3 He is absolutely the light of my life.

the polar express North Carolina transportation museum

We are having a great holiday season. Last weekend we took a trip to the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC for The Polar Express. It was Finn’s first time riding a real train and he thought it was a big deal. The whole thing was really well done and I’m glad we went.

holiday sugar cookies

We also baked and decorated sugar cookies. I used this cookie recipe and store-bought icing. Clearly, we didn’t have Christmas cookie cutters but we improvised and I think they turned out perfectly.

CURRENTLY PONDERING

golden retriever on bed

Why Zoey has decided at eight years old that she belongs on the furniture and that none of the house rules apply to her anymore. Rotten!

CURRENTLY LOOKING FORWARD TO

great-grandmother reading the night before Christmas

Having my whole family together in Florida for the first holiday since my mom’s transplant. Finn has asked me every single day for two weeks if it’s time to go to Florida yet and told me, “we need to get packed up for Florida. It’s almost Christmas.”

What I am not looking forward to is the cold front that is coming through over Christmas weekend. The highs are in the upper 30s and the lows are in the 20s! This is very not normal for the area of Florida that my parents are in. The average December high is 64 and low is 47.

Last year we were on the beach and Finn was in the water on Christmas Day! Oh well, we’ll be packing all of our cold weather clothes this year and bundling up.

That does it for me. Your turn! I’d love to hear from y’all.

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
