Weekending

Hello my friends. I am coming to you bright and early on this Monday morning to recap the weekend. It felt like the most ideal blend of downtime, out time and workouts. Let’s jump straight in!

FRIDAY

I had Finn with me on Friday until noon. We made the most of our last few hours together and got in a lot of morning snuggles before venturing out for a haircut. We saw Robyn at Snip-Its at Park Road Shopping Center and then popped into the toy store next door. I dropped him off with his dad and then headed straight to the yoga studio to catch the noon class with my friend Lindsay. I find that having a “transition activity” helps me when I’m ending my time with Finn.

I spent the rest of the day camped out in front of my laptop getting work done. I did get the dogs out for a walk before it got dark. I finally shut things down around 8p and wrapped up Season 3 of Emily In Paris. Personally, I thought it was the best season yet and my favorite character of the season was Sylvie. I really appreciate the series for showing a mature woman as so confident, elegant, relevant and sexy. I was interested to learn the the role was first written for a 35-40 year old woman but Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu took a risk and auditioned for it. I’m so glad she did! Recommend reading this article to learn more about her – (both Leroy-Beaulieu and Sylvie)!

lessons in chemistry

Friday night ended with a book in bed. I am reading Lessons in Chemistry at my grandmother’s recommendation and very much enjoying it.

SATURDAY

Barry's Charlotte

I found myself at Barry’s at 8a on Saturday for Chelsea’s class. It has quickly become my favorite class of the week. I absolutely love Chelsea’s energy and programming. I feel equal parts pushed outside of my comfort zone and seen/supported in her classes. She has a way of asking you for more that sparks intrinsic motivation. When I walk out of her classes I feel clear, energized, accomplished, happy, strong – all the things. 🙂

Trader Joe's midtown Charlotte

My next stop was Trader Joe’s since I was out early on a Saturday and nearby. I grabbed my favorite “treat coffee” from Waterbean – oat milk latte with just a little brown sugar syrup – and got to shopping!

Trader Joe's cart

Things escalated quickly as they often do at Trader Joe’s. My cart overfloweth. I’ll share details on what I bought in my next post.

home goods

I dropped my groceries at home, showered and ate lunch before tackling the next shopping outing – a trip to Home Good. I’ve slowly been redoing my guest room and my mom was scheduled to arrive the next day so it was good motivation to make more progress on it. I needed pillows and bedding.

chez marie charlotte

There is the cutest (and most delicious) French bakery in the same shopping center so I got a pastry to take home with me. I chose an apricot entremet and it was to die for. I paired it with a cup of ginger tea.

My Saturday concluded with dinner out. I thought it was a pretty great little Saturday that I had. <3

SUNDAY

khali yoga center

After my tough Barry’s workout on Saturday, I was craving a yoga class on Sunday. There’s just something about yoga on a Sunday morning that feels so right. I signed up to take my friend Ian’s class at Khali Yoga Center at 10a and it was the most lovely practice. Filled my cup right to the top.

fresh market pie

I came home and did some food and house prep to get ready for my mom. It’s hard to believe but Sunday was her one-year “lungiversary.” We are heading to Duke today for two days of routine appointments and procedures. Please send prayers that we get good reports.

chicken noodle soup

I trained a client at the gym, picked up my mom from the airport and came home to finish up the homemade chicken noodle soup that I’d been working on all day. I used this recipe on my blog but omitted the turmeric. I splurged on some fancier egg noodles at The Fresh Market and they really made a difference in the heartiness of the soup. They almost made it more reminiscent of chicken and dumplings.

We started the series Dickinson on Apple TV, ate pie and had an early bedtime.

Off to take on this Monday! I have two clients to train and a yoga class to teach before we leave for Durham. If I can get my ducks in a row, I’d also like to get in a short lift before I train my first client.

Have a good day y’all!

QUESTIONS

Did you workout this weekend? What did you do?

Are there certain days that you like to do certain types of workouts? (i.e. Sunday is always a long run day or a yoga day?)

What are you watching right now?

Potato and Broccoli Cheddar Soup

Potato and Broccoli Cheddar Soup

This potato and broccoli cheddar soup is a warm hug in a bowl. It’s a mash up of potato soup meets broccoli cheddar soup, and makes for a creamy, hearty and cheesy bowl that has just enough broccoli in it to make you feel like you’re getting your veggies in for a complete meal. POTATO [...]
