7 Friday Favorites

TGIF! I am rolling into the weekend with my sidekick in tow.

snapchat chicken filter

I picked Finn up around noon today and we spent the afternoon walking/scooting with the pups, baking cookies, prepping sourdough (aka “mommy bread”) for baking tomorrow morning and laughing our faces off at ridiculous SnapChat filters.

Keeping it extra light on this Friday and sharing a few Friday favorites.

I’VE CROSSED TO THE LMNT DARK SIDE – AND I’M NOT MAD

LMNT citrus salt

I had been seeing LMNT all over Instagram for months and months but had resisted ordering any because I’m super picky about drink/electrolyte mixes and there are many that I do not care for. Well, we started carrying it at Metro Fitness Club so I was able to try a single serve packet without committing to a whole box – I am a fan!

Here’s what you need to know – it’s SUPER salty. When you take your first sip you will probably be pretty shocked. The reason behind this is that there’s growing research that is showing that optimal health occurs at sodium levels 2-3x government recommendations. Each packet of LMNT contains 100 mg sodium, 200 mg potassium and 60 mg of magnesium – with no sugar. It is worth noting that LMNT is sweetened with Stevia which I am usually not a fan of but I think the salt balances it out.

I’ve been paying a couple of bucks a pack for LMNT at the gym so I just ordered a 30-pack. I am going to do a 30-day trial of drinking it daily for this reason – I feel like I am ALWAYS thirsty. I carry my water bottle around like an emotional support item. Given that I a) have a very active lifestyle and b) teach/practice hot yoga – I’m interested to see if adding a daily LMNT helps improve my thirst levels. I’ll report back.

You can order yours here. FYI: I’ve tried the Citrus Salt and Raspberry Salt and like both.

CURRENT FAVORITE OUTFIT TO SWEAT IN

lululemon wunder under train

Lately, I’ve been pulling these lululemon items out of my drawer for lifting and Barry’s workouts.

I am notorious for working out in Align leggings and while they 100% get the job done, there is a noticeable difference in fit and function when I wear the Wunder Trains instead. And I just ordered a new Energy Bra in a fabulous highlight yellow color as I was grabbing links for this post because it was on a great sale.

I’M AN ON RUNNING CONVERT

on running cloudgo

Another trend I resisted for a very long time was On Running. I worked with them on an Instagram collaboration back in September 2022 and I am now 100% addicted to their Cloudgo style. These are my go-to shoes for everything from day-to-day comfort/lifestyle to walking the dogs to running to travel workouts. They are a serious workhorse!

I recommend the Cloudgo for any kind of casual wear but I’ve also truly liked them for running. I mix them into a rotation of running shoes that includes Newtons and Sauconys. And like I mentioned above, the Cloudgo is a great travel sneaker because they can take you from the airport to walking around to the hotel gym to runs and more.

I just ordered another pair in solid black (pictured in workout apparel photo above). The black is a perfect compliment to my staff training outfit at Metro and GREAT for not showing dirt. My dogs always step on my feet and dirty my light-colored shoes.

HAIR + MASCARA

L'Oreal lash paradise

It’s no secret that I love fresh hair day with Terra! I had my roots touched up this week and she put a few curls in my hair. Always motivates me to do this more often on my own.

I am a little bit of a mascara junkie. I have tried so, so many brands and formulas. Right now I’m rotating L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise (pictured here) and L’Oreal Telescopic Lengthening Mascara. Pro tip: use a hair dryer to gently heat your lash curler and use a waterproof formula for extra staying power.

I love the look of big/curled/full lashes but I’ve never wanted to do the lash extensions because I worry about damaging my already less than stellar natural lashes. I feel like I kind of get that look with these combos.

A GALENTINE’S SURPRISE

erin mcdermott jewelry

My friend Erin McDermott White is also no stranger to my blog. She’s one of the first and longest-running collaborations that I’ve ever had on my blog. Lately, she’s been taking my yoga classes regularly at Charlotte Yoga and surprised me on Valentine’s Day with a very sweet gift of a selection of her amazing jewelry. I have to say that 90% of the jewelry that I’ve worn for the last 10 years is Erin’s – she’s so talented and her pieces are perfect for both casual, on-the-go style and when you want to dress it up a bit!

NEW STUDIO SPACE

qc yoga Charlotte

Ahhhh! I am so thrilled to make this announcement. I am picking up the Monday 5:30p hot power flow class at QC Yoga and using their studio space to film classes for the relaunch of my app! I will also be hosting workshops and trainings at QC Yoga – including an arm balance workshop next weekend! Details and registration here! QC Yoga is located on the west side of Charlotte, just minutes from uptown. There’s plenty of parking and the studio is lovely.

More details on QC Yoga and my app relaunch in the next week or two. If you want to get on the list for special news/pricing for my app, drop your email here! It’s launching early March! 🙂

FOR MY OVERTHINKING BRAIN

overthinking quote

I spend so much time overthinking that it almost paralyzes me from moving forward. I screenshotted this quote recently.

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
