Friday Love

Hello friends! I hope you’ve had a solid week. I am wrapping up my busiest week of personal training in well over five years and feeling very grateful for that. My number one “reason why” when it comes to fitness is empowering women around their strength, and I have the most amazing roster of female clients right now. It also helps that I work at the best gym in Charlotte (I’m a tad biased as I’ve been involved with the gym since 2012) and am surrounded daily by other trainers who I am so inspired by. I’m constantly asking questions, getting new ideas and leveling up!

It was the right thing for me to take a break from training clients one-on-one when Finn was a baby…and then Covid happened. It feels SO good to be out of my house and back in the gym consistently. I’ve blocked my time so that I train clients in the mornings. I love being up and productive early and then having the afternoon to work on the computer or be with Finn.

That somehow became a tangent in getting around to sharing some Friday favorites but I think it counts as one of my favorites at the moment. 🙂

AN UNEXPECTED DELIVERY

flower delivery

My sweet grandmother sent me these GORGEOUS flowers this week with a note reading, “I hope this makes an ordinary day extraordinary.” She even picked an arrangement featuring my favorite color (purple). I’m crying on the other side of the screen right now. This was hands-down the highlight of my week.

BACK TO BARRY’S

Barry's Charlotte

For several months I was in a solid routine of going to Barry’s every week or so. A combination of life circumstances and then an aggravated hamstring kept me out of the red room for almost two months but I got back in there this week.

CLASS WAS EVERYTHING. Here are my takeaways.

  1. I am obsessed with Chelsea. Her energy, programming, music, vibe, words. All of it. She is a super star instructor.
  2. I signed up for a Wednesday 7:20a class on Tuesday afternoon. I was tired and not really feeling class when my alarm went off at 5a on Wednesday morning. I had missed the cancel window so I showed up – and I’m really glad I did. Chelsea started class by saying, “get out of your head and get in the room” and it snapped me into focus. The way I felt walking out of that room was light years away from how I felt walking in.
  3. Chelsea teased a surprise for Wednesday morning classes on her Instagram the day before. It ended up being THREE rounds of tread and floor. It was my first class doing three switches instead of two and it was super fun…and hard!

I’ll be back in the red room this weekend!

THE $20 TARGET DRESS THAT YOU NEED IN YOUR LIFE

universal thread tank dress

I picked up this black tank dress at Target a few weeks ago and wore it for the first time this week. For just $20, it is perfection! Fits so well. I am wearing a small. I just got it in cream too! Braided sandals are here.

universal thread shrunken t-shirt

Related, I am obsessed with this $10 shrunken t-shirt and have it in two colors.

LOVE FROM ABBY LEIGH STUDIO

Abby Leigh studio Charlotte

I have been fortunate to connect with Abby Leigh Studio. Abby is a PR professional with many years of experience and she just launched a lifestyle PR agency here in Charlotte. We are working together to support some Charlotte-area, women-owned businesses. I’m excited to share more with y’all soon!

Fun fact/reminder. I was a PR major at the University of Georgia and spent the first seven years of my working life in marketing/advertising before the big switch to fitness/blogging.

WORDS

A few things that I’ve shared on Instagram and in my yoga classes this week that have really landed with me.

IN CLOSING

I’ll share this cute photo I took of the pups this week. They were begging for a cookie.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
