Week In Review

Hi, hello, happy Friday! It’s 9:30p on Friday and I have finally landed myself on the couch with my feet up and it’s glorious. I’m watching the first episode of Glamorous on Netflix and so far, it’s cute and easy.

Alrighty. Here’s my week in review.

MONDAY

Charlotte yoga

Monday started and ended with yoga with yoga in the middle. I subbed the 5:45a class at Charlotte Yoga and it was crickets due to the holiday. I was back for my regular 10:45a and it was jamming. I ended the day at QC Yoga for my regular 5:30p. In between yoga classes I trained a client, lifted, wrote a blog post and did some other computer work.

Now comes the part where I admit that it was not my best decision making to commit to a 12-hour workday coming off of a full weekend of teacher training. I hit the wall HARD on Monday night and put myself to bed at 9 feeling all sorts of overwhelm.

TUESDAY

I was up and at the gym at 6:30a on Tuesday. I had a few morning training sessions and then spent the rest of the day working on my app. (Launch date July 14!!!!) I did take a much-needed 30-minute nap on Tuesday afternoon. I was sitting at my computer and literally couldn’t keep my eyes open. The power nap was everything and I cranked for three hours after!

Yafo family meal

Tuesday evening found me back at Charlotte Yoga to teach my 5:45p class. I went to Dorie’s after class for Yafo takeout and girl time.

WEDNESDAY

I was back at the gym at 6:30a Wednesday morning to train three clients. After I wrapped my last session I got in a quick treadmill interval/sprint workout.

Here are the details! It was both hard and awesome. I felt REALLY good and strong for it.

jen eddins yoga

I taught yoga at 9:30a and class was magic. It was rainy and I taught a little slower than I typically do. Everyone felt so present and connected and I left feeling so filled up and peaceful. I went straight from the studio to therapy. After a couple years hiatus from therapy, I recently started working with someone new. We are only three sessions in but I know for sure that it’s a good fit for my current personal growth goals.

I got my boy back after my appointment and it was EVERYTHING! I am still working to get adjusted to our new parenting schedule where I don’t see Finn for five nights when he’s with is dad for the weekend. I’m so happy he’s happy when he’s with his dad but it feels like forever. We spent the afternoon prepping sourdough, baking his favorite banana muffins and also made a quick trip to see Dr. Goodman so I could get my body back in order.

Whole Foods cart

We swung into Whole Foods on the way home to grab some bagels and I got a little distracted. I left with fish sticks, Hippeas (for Finn who demanded to take in the snack aisle), kombucha, high-quality balsamic, soaps, incense, fruit and more. Oops.

THURSDAY

I sound like a broken record but Thursday started at the gym to train a client and then I taught yoga at 10:45. I had one more training client before my nanny dropped Finn off at the gym.

Carolina kids dentistry

We headed over to Carolina Kids Dentistry for a cleaning appointment. Finn got a great report! One of my best friends owns this practice and I can’t recommend it enough. Finn has definitely struggled with some dentist anxiety and they have gone above and beyond to accommodate him and make it as light, fun and enjoyable as possible. They have locations in Mint Hill and Waxhaw.

Khali yoga kids

Our next outing was to Khali Yoga for Finn’s first ever kids yoga class! Khali recently started offering kids classes Monday-Thursday at 4:30p and Saturdays and Sundays at 11:30a. The kids classes are offered at times where kids can take class while parents take vinyasa. I got to take my friend Ian’s class while Finn did kids yoga…and he LOVED it!

khali yoga kids classes

Khali’s kids classes are designed to develop mindfulness, play and connection for ages 4-10. It’s an hour of breathing exercises, yoga poses, games and fun! I am hoping to make this part of our weekly routine.

FRIDAY

Friday went a little off script when I had to take Finn to the gym with me last-minute to train clients because our nanny had a family emergency. I gave my clients a head’s up that he would be there and offered to cancel/reschedule their sessions but everyone was gracious and happy for the cute distraction. I am really, really fortunate to work for an organization that is so understanding and family-focused.

hoover smart dash and branch basics

When we got home from the gym, I went CRAZY on cleaning. It has rained all week in Charlotte and the dogs trashed my house. It wasn’t their fault – my backyard was just so wet, swampy and muddy. I vacuumed, mopped and cleaned all the area rugs with my beloved Hoover SmartDash. I used Branch Basics Oxygen Boost for the cleaner in my SmartDash for the first time and game changer! It worked so well. I just mixed it with hot water and used it in the cleaning solution tank.

Friday ended with a quick trip to Target for birthday presents for two parties tomorrow. Our weekend looks like said parties, a playdate and hopefully some pool time. It looks like this week of gloomy weather is FINALLY behind us.
