Happiest of Fridays!
I woke up at 2 a.m. with a raging sore throat. I’m praying that it’s allergies and not sickness. I haven’t been sick in a really long time and thought I had escaped the brutal cold and flu season we had in Charlotte this year. I think my immune system has reached ninja status now that I’ve worked in gyms and hot yoga studios for so long. Everything is starting to bloom and the pollen is coming out in full force so fingers crossed that’s to blame for my throat.
A few things to share today…
First, don’t forget to enter the Dole Brain Awareness Week Giveaway. It ends tonight at midnight EST!
How about some giveaway winners! A huge thanks to everyone who pre-ordered my book. Y’all are THE BEST EVER! It should be shipping in the next week so get ready to see it on your doorstep soon! And I’ll get the signed book plates out to you as soon as they’re ready.
Winner of six weeks of online personal training:

Winner of the $50 Lulu or Athleta Giftcard:

These were both picked by a random number generator. I will email you both!
I had my first media appearance for Ultimate Plank Fitness yesterday. I did a short segment on Charlotte Today and it was a lot of fun. I love Colleen and Eugene. They are so personable and easy to talk to so it makes the live taping feel peasant instead of intimidating.
You can check out a video of the segment on the NBC website.
Zoey had her first training session in months this week. She had two puppy sessions in the early days and then a long hiatus. I drug my feet in booking a training session because I felt like I hadn’t done the work I needed to do with her. Kind of like when you want to clean before the housekeeper comes, you know?
All of my fears were unfounded because her trainer said she’s doing a great job and right on track for where he’d expect her to be right now. When we started the session she wouldn’t step foot on this blue training mat but by the end she was camped out on it because it became treat central! 🙂
The beautiful part of training is that it exhausts her both physically and mentally. She slept for hours after he left! We worked on sit, down, here and place. She’s already good with her sit and down commands but now we’re working on improving them and holding them. And she definitely needs improvement on her place and here commands.
I’ll leave you with two things…
First, this quote that one of my teachers shared online this week and I, in turn, shared in class. Yoga has definitely helped me stop, pause and take a breath in the space between stimulus and response and to be able to see situations with more clarity and love.
And finally, you must read this article about Kathryn Budig on The Legacy Project. The post is full of really amazing quotes, one of my favorites being this…
The Best Advice I’ve Received | To drop the competitive, jealous ego and choose to work together as a team with those who challenge or threaten you. There’s enough work for everyone, and we only become more powerful when we lift others up.
I so believe in this. I believe in abundance and enough opportunity to go around for us all. I hope there continues to be more and more of this in the world, especially among women. I adore Kathryn Budig and I really hope I can study with her very soon.
That’s all I’ve got for ya. Have a wonderful weekend!
