Day in the Life 7.22.15

5:55 a.m. – Alarm goes off and I do a quick scan of email and social as I try to get my eyes open. I give myself 5 minutes in bed before I have to get up and get moving.

6 a.m. – Get out of bed and start getting ready for the gym. I eat a handful of cherries, brush my teeth, get dressed, give the puppies some attention and then head out.

6:30 a.m. – train my first client. She threw me a curve ball by asking if we could do a gentle stretching focused workout instead of something high intensity. She’s going through a stressful time at work and was feeling tight and tense. I completely changed her workout on the fly. This happens ALL.THE.TIME.

7:30 a.m. – meet a videographer at the gym who I’ve been working with on the #DesignCharlotte project. He wants to get some B-Roll of me training and of the gym.

7:40 a.m. – second client arrives a little late but we get moving and have a great session! She shared with me that she’s lost 7 INCHES since we started working together. Which is pretty incredible given that she’s very petite and only 5′ 1″.

8:30 a.m. – head home for breakfast and operation Christmas in July. I made a green smoothie and french press coffee. This morning’s smoothie was so super awesome.

Strawberry Vanilla Protein Smoothie

1 frozen banana
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1 frozen fig
2 cups baby spinach
1/2 scoop Vanilla Premier Protein Powder
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1/4 cup plain greek yogurt
3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Premier Protein just sent me their Vanilla Protein Powder to test and I am obsessed. I’ve been using it in my smoothies every morning. The texture is perfect and the taste is great. I hate gritty and artificially sweet protein powders. This one is neither! One scoop has 30 grams of protein, 180 calories and 3 grams of sugar.

9:30 a.m. – launch Christmas in July for Y2 Yoga.

y2yoga_christmasinjulyFINALFINAL

I have been working on this promotion for three days and it went live today! We are offering some incredible deals for “Christmas in July.” You can get all the details in our newsletter.

Launching a new marketing promotion includes…
– Sending out an eblast to our email subscribers
– Creating graphics to support the promotion (Facebook covers, Instagram pictures, email newsletter images, etc)
– Setting everything up to be sold on the back end
– Staff communications
– And more!!! (For this promotion it included finding a fake Christmas tree, ornaments, lights, playing Christmas music in the studio, costumes and more.)

10-11 a.m. – Peanut Butter Runner emails

11-noon – baking projects

I made chocolate chip cookie dough.

And homemade Honey Almond and Coconut Granola. I’m going to visit family and friends at the beach this weekend and I can’t go empty handed! 🙂

Noon-12:45 – Clean. Unload dishwasher, clean kitchen, vacuum up two canisters of dog hair from around the house (we JUST vacuumed two days ago), make bed, fold clothes and prep dinner in slow cooker.

1 p.m. – leave for studio

1:15 p.m. – meeting with another management team member at the studio about a new initiative we just lauched

1:45 p.m. – audition a new teacher

My friend Joe auditioned to teach at the studio. It was a really sweet moment for so many reasons and it went so well.

3 p.m. – head home for a late lunch

turkeycheesesnackplate

I made a snack plate similar to this one minus watermelon, plus apples and ate some granola.

4 p.m. – shower and paint toes (trying to save money…no pedicures for this girl!) and work on social media for the studio

5 p.m. – make a new playlist on Spotify for class tonight

5:35 p.m. – leave for studio. I have to leave early when I’m teaching 6 p.m.’s due to rush hour traffic.

6 p.m. – teach hot yoga at Y2. This was one of “those classes” where everything magically feels perfect. Teaching felt so easy, my friend Joe assisted and my playlist was on point!

7 p.m. – clean room, chat with students and shower. Chat with staff and clients as I’m leaving studio.

8 p.m. – arrive home

8:15 p.m. – drop Sullie off with her dad since I’m out of town this weekend

8:30 p.m. – prep dinner. I rarely do slow cooker dinners so it was such a treat tonight

We had salsa chicken over zucchini noodles. I love this dinner and it’s crazy simple. You can get the recipe in this post.

9 p.m. – Bake cookies from dough I made and chilled earlier…and eat a lot of cookie dough

9:45 p.m. – Sit down on couch and start blog

10:30 p.m. – publish blog and then eat two cookies

11 p.m. – bed where I will read a book for probably all about 5 pages before falling asleep.

Next up? Teaching at 6 a.m. on Thursday, two personal training clients, teaching again and then the beach!

What was your “day in the life” like? How often do you do slow cooker meals?

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a month since I ran the Every Woman’s Marathon! One of the fun things about this year’s race was getting to visit Scottsdale, Arizona. It was my first time in Arizona and while it was a quick trip, I tried to maximize my time there. Here’s a [...]

Your Last-Minute Gift Guide For Everyone

In keeping with tradition, I’m coming in hot with a last-minute gift guide. As much as I’d like to think that one day I’ll be the kind of person who has their holiday shopping done before Black Friday…it’s just not a likely scenario. And I’m okay with that! I hope this list helps you finish [...]

Every Woman’s Marathon Scottsdale Recap (marathon #4!!!)

Every Woman’s Marathon Scottsdale Recap (marathon #4!!!)

I am on a three-hour flight home from Scottsdale so it seems like the perfect time to relive and recap yesterday’s Every Woman’s Marathon experience. I had a great day and I’m very proud of the race that I ran. It was a practice in “fun running” and that not every race effort has to [...]
