Hello. (It’s me.)

I typed “Hello,” looked at it and the song immediately popped in my head. Are we forever ruined on the word hello? Ha.

I didn’t mean to disappear for 3 days but my Friday and weekend got busy and I know you guys are busy on the weekend too so I figured we’d just catch up on Sunday night! 🙂

At least I left you with delicious Blue Apron food to drool over. Don’t forget that the free week of meals giveaway ends tonight at midnight!

We had a wonderful weekend full of holiday cheer. I finished decorating the house and we had our staff holiday party at Y2. I’ll fill you in on all the details tomorrow in the weekend recap. For now, here’s last week’s workouts!

Monday

Hot yoga

Tuesday

Hot yoga

Wednesdsay

CrossFit + Hot Yoga

21-15-9 (descending rep sets)

Back Squats (105#)
Pull Ups
400 Meter Sprint

This took me 15 minutes and was a killer workout! I ran 1 mile to warm up so I would be ready for the sprints. I worked the sprints up to a 6:30 pace.

crowtohandstand

Later that night was the hot yoga magic of finally getting crow to handstand!

Thursday

CrossFit + Strength

21-18-15 (descending rep sets)

Box Jumps (20″)
Kettlebell Deadlifts (55#)
Push Press (55# bar)
Double Unders

This took me about 12 minutes to finish. I was sore from the back squats and pull ups the day before so I tried to do opposing movements/muscle groups.

After the workout I did a quick set of biceps and triceps.

3 rounds:

8 alternating bicep curls (20#) – you should have seen the face I was making during these. 20 felt heavy.
10 overhead triceps extensions (30#)

Arms felt like noodles after pull up soreness, push press and heavy bis and tris. Love it.

Friday

REST

Saturday

Hot yoga + 3 mile run

Sunday

3 mile run

And that wraps it up! Nothing too special about this week of workouts but getting crow to handstand made my fall!

One of the things I love the most about fitness, whether it’s yoga or strength training or running, is the evidence that it provides that you can BE STRONGER. It always amazes me how something that seems totally impossible when you first dream of it or first start can become possible with work and dedication.

Being able to pick up 20# dumbbells for bicep curls when at one time lifting 10 pounds felt like a monumental effort.

Running a half marathon 30 minutes faster than your first one…8 years later.

Getting a yoga pose after trying it countless times (hundreds and even sometimes thousands of attempts.)

I see it all the time in the gym and in the yoga studio. It’s such an awesome thing to see the look on someone’s face when they do something they’ve never done before and at one time may have believed they’d never do.

DREAM BIG! And then go after it!

Tell me about the last time you met a goal? What was it and how did you feel?

Are you working towards any current goals?

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a month since I ran the Every Woman’s Marathon! One of the fun things about this year’s race was getting to visit Scottsdale, Arizona. It was my first time in Arizona and while it was a quick trip, I tried to maximize my time there. Here’s a [...]

I am settled in back at home after a very special Thanksgiving in Florida. I cherish all of our trips to Florida but this one was extra meaningful because we had a bigger holiday crew this year. My cousin’s family came down and it was just the best to have a big tableful of people [...]

Every Woman’s Marathon Scottsdale Recap (marathon #4!!!)

Every Woman’s Marathon Scottsdale Recap (marathon #4!!!)

I am on a three-hour flight home from Scottsdale so it seems like the perfect time to relive and recap yesterday’s Every Woman’s Marathon experience. I had a great day and I’m very proud of the race that I ran. It was a practice in “fun running” and that not every race effort has to [...]
