I truly can’t believe that I’m sharing this news with you…I am RUNNING A MARATHON! Never did I ever think I’d be lining up to run 26.2 again but I was recently presented with an opportunity that I just couldn’t turn down.

I’M RUNNING THE EVERY WOMAN’S MARATHON!

every woman's marathon

The Every Woman’s Marathon is a race for women, designed by women with a goal of getting more women to experience the sense of joy and community that comes with completing a marathon.

This is the inaugural year of the Every Woman’s Marathon and it will take place in beautiful Savannah, Georgia on November 16, 2024. I am teaming up with PET Dairy and joining Team Milk!

WHY 26.2 AGAIN?

I ran two marathons in my 20s. The Mercedes Marathon in Birmingham, Alabama in 2009 and the Marine Corps Marathon in DC in 2010. I am in a completely different place with running and fitness at this point in my life and believe that I can run a race that feels both smarter and better than the experiences I had with those races. And I really want that for myself. Running was my first fitness love and it’s still my number one. While strength training and yoga are an integral part of my overall fitness and things I very much enjoy, there is nothing like running for me. It’s my ultimate reset button.

Also, it’s been a long time since I trained in earnest for anything and I’m really looking forward to working my way through a four-month training cycle. I’ll share more details on my training in future posts but it will officially begin end of June/early July.

While I am committing to running 26.2 miles and spending four months training for that, my mindset around the race is KEEP IT CASUAL and HAVE FUN! I’m not setting any time goals and I will absolutely welcome walking as part of my marathon experience when and if needed.

I WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO JOIN ME!

every woman's marathon training program

I believe that running and fitness are loads more fun and rewarding when shared in community so I’m hosting a virtual marathon training group!

Here are all the most important details to know:

  • All participants will receive a four-month training plan that incorporates running, strength training and stretching/yoga/mobility.
  • We will have a Facebook group for motivation, questions, accountability, etc.
  • This training plan will be geared towards beginner/intermediate runners who are looking for more of a “feel good/have fun” kind of training cycle.
  • No previous marathon experience is necessary but I do recommend building a solid base of running 3-4x/week and being comfortable with a distance of 6 miles before we start the plan.
  • You do not have to run the Every Woman’s Marathon to participate in the training group. Of course I’d love to see you in Savannah but if you’d rather train for another fall marathon that works too!

If all that sounds good, please drop your email here and I’ll add you to the list to receive updates and information about the virtual marathon training group!

If you’re ready to sign up for the Every Woman’s Marathon, you can register and join my team Peanut Butter Runners using this link.

MUCH, MUCH MORE TO COME!

Much more to come in coming weeks and months but I was just excited to share this news with y’all!

QUESTIONS

Who’s in!?

Have you ever run a marathon? Would you run another one?

Have you ever run a woman-focused race?

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]

Moab Run The Rocks Race Recap (3 Day Stage Race)

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks! It’s a three-day stage race in Moab, Utah that’s put on by the same race organization, TransRockies Rockies Race Series, that I did my six-day Colorado race with back in August. TransRockies truly excels when it comes to planning and [...]

Moab, Utah Trip Recap (put this on your bucket list)

I recently spent four nights in Moab, Utah for a three-day stage trail race called Moab Run The Rocks.
