Friday From My iPhone

Happiest of Fridays!

First, can I just say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you for being so supportive and awesome during my Whole30?ย I know many of you are waiting for my program recap and I promise it is coming on Monday. The most important thing is that my eyes are clear for the first time in 2 years so for that I am so, so, so grateful.

I’m going to end the week on a lighter note and share some shots from my iPhone.

Okay, first. Let’s talk about iPhones. I just got the 6S Plus and it is buggy! Don’t get me wrong, I love the phone (the display and camera are awesome!) but I’m having hard time with a few things…

  1. The screen gets stuck in horizontal orientation and will not switch no matter how much shaking and tapping I do. (And I have ensured that I have standard zoom and unlocked the screen rotation.)
  2. The thumb unlock is temperamental. (Maybe I need to redo the scan?)
  3. While I was in Florida it shut off and wouldn’t turn back on without a hard restart.

Given that I’ve only had the phone for two weeks, I’m a little nervous! Anyone else had issues?

(Side note: please ignore the 8,000+ gmail notifications. I’m bad but I’m not that bad. That account has pretty much turned to junk.)

My sweet girls.

Four friend dates this week, two of which involved babies. I am in the midst of a major connection phase right now on all fronts but friends and family are leading the charge.

Girl’s nights have changed a little but for the better. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Girl’s night “build your own salad” buffet.

I checked out the new Sunflour location in Charlotte and enjoyed a hot cup of mint tea while I knocked out our email newsletter for the yoga studio before meeting another friend for lunch.

CPR, first aid, AED and oxygen recertification at the Y. Every.Single.Year. They are so strict on their standards but every time I do it I feel so grateful to have the knowledge and skills. Even simulating the skills gives me chills when I think about possibly having to do it in real life.

I was featured in a local magazine as part of a wellness series for the new year. I shared meal ideas and a video of my popular 1,000 rep home workout so be sure to check it out. I’m wearing the most fierce “Lion Tights” from The Track & Field Store Charlotte. They are equal parts functional and fashionable!

One of my readers emailed me to let me know she was adopting an 8-year-old golden from a rescue and asked for advice of things like food, toys, grooming, etc. I got crazy excited and asked her to send pics. Look how happy this sweet boy is in his new home!

Another reader spotted my book in Whole Foods in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. I lived there for a year after collegeย so pretty awesome to have it being sold there!

We’ll just close with this. Made me smile! ๐Ÿ™‚

What are your weekend plans?ย

I’m sorry to hear about your phone troubles! I got a 6s after Christmas and within three weeks the display went out. I went to the Apple Store and they replaced the display but two days later the same exact thing happened. At that point they just replaced the phone and it’s been fine ever since. So strange.

    • Jen DeCurtins February 6, 2016, 9:28 pm

I’m glad they replaced it! Hoping I don’t have to take mine in!

Ahhh that last picture is too cute! I have yet to try the new Sunflour location, but I am excited for another that is slightly closer to my apartment. This weekend, in the mix of studying I am having a wine night with a friend, going to a baby shower/Super Bowl party, and heading to a few local breweries.

    Happy weekending, Jen!

Hi Jen! My husband and I are getting a goldendoodle puppy in May (so excited!). Would love to hear your tips on training, etc.

    Have a great weekend!

Oh that last picture…exactly what I would do ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m actually in the market for a new iPhone (just shattered my screen this week) but don’t know if I’d like the 6 Plus because of the size. Can you hold it in your hand to run?

    • Jen DeCurtins February 6, 2016, 9:30 pm

Not really. It’s pretty huge. I would go check it out at the apple store to see what you think!

First, you look (and look like you feel :)) AWESOME in that pic! Love the tights. ๐Ÿ™‚ Second, that sweet 8 year-old face makes me want to adopt an older dog. Right now. And, I already have two (husky & lab mix). I still love the iphone, but all of he software updates since the last IOS relaunch has about drove me crazy. Every time I update, there is a new feature issue. Hopefully they will get it all right and settled soon! Have a fab weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

I've always had an Andriod, but everyone else in my family has iphones. I think I need to make the switch, but I'm so hesitant!

My phone did the same thing and I finally had to go into Apple and they had to wipe it clean and reset it and I’ve not had a problem since.

    • Jen DeCurtins February 7, 2016, 8:52 am

      Good to know. Thanks!

  • Brittany Holtz February 6, 2016, 7:03 am

Wow I am so impressed that you weren’t totally winded during that video!!! And you did it all in one shot? I always have to piece mt videos together lol. I told a friend of mine who was experiencing the same problem with her eyes about your blog. She didn’t go Whole30, but she does notice a huge difference when she’s eating clean. Very interesting.

  • Julie February 6, 2016, 1:50 pm

love the video! can’t wait to try it along with you!

  • erin February 21, 2016, 3:44 pm
