I am happy to hear that I wasn’t the only one in “recovery mode” on Monday. My recovery carried into Tuesday but also involved the reality of a little bit of work too (um…and the reality of some cake…keep reading!).
I taught a 7 a.m. class uptown at Charlotte Athletic Club and then had a personal training client. I considered bailing on my own workout afterwards but one of the perks of working in a gym is having people who tell you to quit whining and get it done! After 25 minutes on the ARC Trainer and a quick weights circuit, I was feeling much better and less whiny! 😉
Here’s the circuit that I completed five times through as quickly as possible. It was over before I knew it but left me seriously sweating.
Christmas Cookie Burner
10 box jumps
10 pushups with feet on box
10 triceps dips off box
10 prisoner jump squats
20 mountain climbers
15 bosu crunches
I came home after my workout to make breakfast, blog and pack. Breakfast was a bowl of plain Greek yogurt with bananas, apples, TJs pumpkin butter, granola and sunflower butter.
I had to teach a lunch class at CAC before hitting the road for Atlanta.
I am taking the rest of the week off to spend some time with my family.
I packed lunch for the car. Peanut butter, honey and banana, apple slices and pretzels. I would like to state for the record that the only reason why I am eating gluten-free pretzels is because I received them as a free sample but they were surprisingly good.
And of course there was a Starbucks stop. I am so predictable. I have never seen a Starbucks so crowded in my life. This location was right off the interstate and I guess they were feeling the effects of holiday travel.
I arrived in Atlanta around 6:30 and discovered that my dad had a homemade chicken pot pie in the oven. We exchanged Christmas gifts while we waited for it to finish cooking.
The homemade crust made the dish. Flakey and buttery! The filling featured potatoes, carrots, celery root and chicken.
I had some kale on the side since I had yet to eat anything green. This meal was total comfort food.
The remainder of my evening was spent on the couch under a blanket watching a TV marathon of Chopped and Criminal Minds. There was a break in there for some hot tea and dessert. Leftover red velvet cake and flan from Christmas dinner.
I slept for 9 hours last night and now it’s off to relax and hang out with my parents – they both took the day off today!
See y’all later. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
