Happy Friday Giveaway – Better Butter

by Jen on January 13, 2011

What better way to kick off the weekend than with a giveaway!? I’m really excited about sharing this product with you guys. I don’t accept product reviews often but when Marina reached out to me about her new company, Better Butter, I was interested in learning more.

After spending some time on her site, I knew that Better Butter was a product that I wanted to try. Marina is a fellow nut butter addict and started experimenting with ways to reduce the fat and calorie content in a serving of nut butter. She discovered that by replacing some of the oils with banana and pumpkin puree, she could cut the fat and calorie content nearly in half. A two tablespoon serving of better butter has on average 45% less calories, 50% less fat and 65% less saturated fat than normal peanut butter.

I received a full-sized jar of Honey Nut Banana Better Butter along with a sampler pack of the other flavors.

I have enjoyed sampling the Better Butter products and love that I can pile them on guilt-free! I’ve been topping toast, fruit and oatmeal with Better Butter ever since I received the sample a week ago. This nut butter is seriously delicious! I’m working on some recipe ideas using Better Butter too.

I asked Marina if she’d be willing to give away samples to a Peanut Butter Runner reader and she graciously agreed. She is going to send one reader a full-sized jar of their choice along with a sample pack. I am not a fan of contests that force people to follow you on Twitter and Tweet about the giveaway or make people like the product on Facebook for extra entries (of course I’d like for you to do both but only because you want to! :) ). What I do ask is that you check out the Better Butter website and leave a comment about what flavor you’d like to try and why. I’d love to hear ideas on how you’d like to use Better Butter too!

You have until Sunday evening at midnight (EST) to enter. I’ll announce the winner on Monday!

Chocolate Chip! I am obsessed with almond butter in my oats for breakfast, and I can only imagine how much better breakfast would taste with CHOCOLATE in there somehow…I love that this has less fat and calories, I bet it is deelish on toast, apples, mixed with greek yogurt, in protein shakes, etc…yummy =)

Oh, maple pumpkin! I make a pumpkin protein pancake / waffle every morning for breakfast and use nut butter for some healthy fat… right now, it’s straight chocolate PB, and at first I was interested in the Better Butter Nutty Chocolate Chip, but I reconsidered because I don’t do Agave (for fructose reasons…).

An absolutely genius idea, though—I wonder what experimentation will do!

Great giveaway idea!

What an exciting giveaway! Now that Foodbuzz runs the show, I never see fun giveaways anymore. Anywho, this is a very cool product. I like that the company makes substitutions to reduce the fat and calorie content, but the ingredients that add also increase the nutritional value. A win-win situation! I like the Nutty Chocolate Chip–I’m a chocolate girl!

All of the nut butters sound wonderful! But I’d love to try the Nutty Chocolate Chip. A lot of times when I make cupcakes for my little boy I will “frost” them with Nutella or some other nut butter so that he isn’t getting lots of fat, sugar, and hydrogenated oil. The Nutty Chocolate Chip would be an excellent alternative! Peanut Butter Banana sandwiches would also be great to try with the Honey Nut Banana!:)

Mmmm… Maple Pumpkin peanut butter sounds delicious! I know it’s not fall anymore, but that sounds divine – sweet w/ the peanut butter to contrast, and pumpkin-y so it’s not too honey/sugar-y. I’d definitely mix this into oatmeal, and also spread on toast, apples, etc. I’d love to try making some sort of peanut butter-ball type cookie with it too.

I am 100% torn between the honey nut banana and the nutty chocolate chip. I really cannot choose between the two! This looks like a great product. Awesome giveaway!

I think I’d like honey nut banana. I’ve never seen this stuff in stores but I’m going to keep my eyes out for it!

Honey and Banana? What’s not to love about those two. All natural is the way to go and this looks like someone that is doing it right.

May Canadians enter? I’d like to try the Nutty Chocolate Chip because I’m craving chocolate right now (but the other flavours look amazing too!).

I absolutely love anything pumpkin and my husband is a pb addict, and loves chocolate. So I would love to try the maple pumpkin flavor OR the nutty chocolate chip–both sound terriffic!
