Happy Friday Giveaway – Better Butter

What better way to kick off the weekend than with a giveaway!? I’m really excited about sharing this product with you guys. I don’t accept product reviews often but when Marina reached out to me about her new company, Better Butter, I was interested in learning more.

After spending some time on her site, I knew that Better Butter was a product that I wanted to try. Marina is a fellow nut butter addict and started experimenting with ways to reduce the fat and calorie content in a serving of nut butter. She discovered that by replacing some of the oils with banana and pumpkin puree, she could cut the fat and calorie content nearly in half. A two tablespoon serving of better butter has on average 45% less calories, 50% less fat and 65% less saturated fat than normal peanut butter.

I received a full-sized jar of Honey Nut Banana Better Butter along with a sampler pack of the other flavors.

I have enjoyed sampling the Better Butter products and love that I can pile them on guilt-free! I’ve been topping toast, fruit and oatmeal with Better Butter ever since I received the sample a week ago. This nut butter is seriously delicious! I’m working on some recipe ideas using Better Butter too.

I asked Marina if she’d be willing to give away samples to a Peanut Butter Runner reader and she graciously agreed. She is going to send one reader a full-sized jar of their choice along with a sample pack. I am not a fan of contests that force people to follow you on Twitter and Tweet about the giveaway or make people like the product on Facebook for extra entries (of course I’d like for you to do both but only because you want to! :)). What I do ask is that you check out the Better Butter website and leave a comment about what flavor you’d like to try and why. I’d love to hear ideas on how you’d like to use Better Butter too!

You have until Sunday evening at midnight (EST) to enter. I’ll announce the winner on Monday!

I love this product!! Thank you for posting about it–I am going to order the maple pumpkin butter soon..I mean now! I’m dreaming of it in my oats, on my toasted Dakota bread, spread on French toast, dripped on bananas & if I get too crazy layered between oatmeal cookies:)

  • Taylor January 13, 2011, 11:46 pm

Chocolate Chip! I am obsessed with almond butter in my oats for breakfast, and I can only imagine how much better breakfast would taste with CHOCOLATE in there somehow…I love that this has less fat and calories, I bet it is deelish on toast, apples, mixed with greek yogurt, in protein shakes, etc…yummy =)

  • Danielle January 14, 2011, 12:47 am

Yowza. How do I choose?! Nutty banana or chocolate chip for sure πŸ™‚

  • S @ extremebalance.net/blog January 14, 2011, 1:16 am

Oh, maple pumpkin! I make a pumpkin protein pancake / waffle every morning for breakfast and use nut butter for some healthy fat… right now, it’s straight chocolate PB, and at first I was interested in the Better Butter Nutty Chocolate Chip, but I reconsidered because I don’t do Agave (for fructose reasons…).

An absolutely genius idea, though—I wonder what experimentation will do!

    Great giveaway idea!

  • Martha January 14, 2011, 1:24 am

  • Nicole @ yuppie yogini January 14, 2011, 9:06 am

What an exciting giveaway! Now that Foodbuzz runs the show, I never see fun giveaways anymore. Anywho, this is a very cool product. I like that the company makes substitutions to reduce the fat and calorie content, but the ingredients that add also increase the nutritional value. A win-win situation! I like the Nutty Chocolate Chip–I’m a chocolate girl!

  • Angie January 14, 2011, 9:08 am

All of the nut butters sound wonderful! But I’d love to try the Nutty Chocolate Chip. A lot of times when I make cupcakes for my little boy I will “frost” them with Nutella or some other nut butter so that he isn’t getting lots of fat, sugar, and hydrogenated oil. The Nutty Chocolate Chip would be an excellent alternative! Peanut Butter Banana sandwiches would also be great to try with the Honey Nut Banana!:)

  • Melissa January 14, 2011, 9:16 am

  • Lauren @ Lauren Runs January 14, 2011, 9:28 am

Mmmm… Maple Pumpkin peanut butter sounds delicious! I know it’s not fall anymore, but that sounds divine – sweet w/ the peanut butter to contrast, and pumpkin-y so it’s not too honey/sugar-y. I’d definitely mix this into oatmeal, and also spread on toast, apples, etc. I’d love to try making some sort of peanut butter-ball type cookie with it too.

  • Becky Berna January 14, 2011, 9:30 am

GIVE ME THE CHOC CHIP!!!! I’d put this on a sandwich thin when I needed a sweet treat! Or on homemade graham crackers!!!

  • Ashlee January 14, 2011, 10:36 am

I absolutely love to eat healthy! They all sound amazing but I especially want to try Honey Banana Nut. I usually eat at my desk at work during the week and think it will be a great and lighter change to my usual peanut butter, banana & honey sandwich.

  • Claudie January 14, 2011, 10:39 am

I’d love to try out the Honey Nut Banana πŸ™‚
    1) Because it was the first one to be created, and I think that trying out the original as a start is always a good choice πŸ™‚
    2) Because it reminds me of an evening in Miami when my husband drank a huge peanut butter banana smoothie… he ended up needing my help and my friend’s help to finish it… hilarious πŸ™‚

  • A girl January 14, 2011, 10:48 am

Yumm!! The honey nut banana sounds perfect! I loooove peanut butter and banana sandwiches so I have no doubt this will be a delicious combination.

  • betty@runbetty.com January 14, 2011, 11:04 am

Ooh, that’s tough. It’s between honey nut banana and maple pumpkin for me. Both sound amazing, but honey nut just makes me think of the Cheerios flavor, and that brings me right back to childhood. I think I’d go with that.

  • Marianne January 14, 2011, 11:56 am

Wow! Definitely a toss up between maple pumpkin and honey nut banana. Both sound very tasty to me!! But if I had to choose then honey nut banana since my skin is already turning a lovely shade of orange from too much pumpkin, winter squash, and carrots…need to lay off the beta-carotene big time!

  • Jacquelyn January 14, 2011, 12:07 pm

The honey nut banana flavor looks fab. I bet it would be so good on toast with more banana and cinnamon on top. ah that sounds really good right now.

  • Courtney January 14, 2011, 2:21 pm

I’d like to give the banana/honey flavor a shot because, and I know this sounds odd, I have a hard time believing that it wouldn’t turn out slimy. How is it possible? Probably I’d use it on my oat bran every morning, but I bet I could make a mean batch of peanut butter banana chocolate chip muffins with it!

  • Melissa S. January 15, 2011, 12:36 am

I am a pumpkin fanatic; I have designated “pumpkin season” (October-November) where I sneak pumpkin into almost every meal! I would love to try the Maple Pumpkin Butter. I would try to recreate those “Maple Pumpkin Granola bars” from the Better Butter site. yumyum!

  • Alex January 15, 2011, 2:28 am

I think I’d like honey nut banana. I’ve never seen this stuff in stores but I’m going to keep my eyes out for it!

I’d love to try the nutty chocolate chip flavor!

Honey and Banana? What’s not to love about those two. All natural is the way to go and this looks like someone that is doing it right.

May Canadians enter? I’d like to try the Nutty Chocolate Chip because I’m craving chocolate right now (but the other flavours look amazing too!).

I absolutely love anything pumpkin and my husband is a pb addict, and loves chocolate. So I would love to try the maple pumpkin flavor OR the nutty chocolate chip–both sound terriffic!
