HI there, love the blog. I am wondering if you have ever shared your skin care routine – cleanser, moisturizer, etc that you use and also the line of make up? I am doing a search on your blog but haven’t found one yet?? I would love to hear as your skin always looks great and has a pretty glow!

Do you live in Charlotte? If so I wondered if you might want to get together sometime for lunch, coffee, etc. I am trying to meet active people in the area for two reasons 1. I need new active friends who like to get out and try ne things and 2. I love your blog and I wondered if you might chat with me about blogging, how you got started and any other advise you might have. Thoughts?

Jen, I am an older woman who follows your blog and am inspired by all you do. Mostly I am inspired by your yoga and your healthy eating. I read with such admiration–(oh to be young and do it all!) I have recently over the past few years fallen in love with yoga and in itself yoga has transformed my body and how I feel in general overall.
Today as I read your blog I want to talk to you as a mother. Running is very hard on the body no matter how you train and I would just like you to take a moment to think of your body as you age, that is when you will feel the affects of your continued injuries from running. If you were my daughter I would advise you to take into account your long term goals for your career and your life, in the scheme of all of this is running so important when there may be many other means for you to accomplish a sense of great satisfaction. I want you to be healthy throughout your life. Just think about it!! I do so enjoy reading you each day as do my daughter and daughter in law. Keep up the good work.

Hi,

I’m so inspired by your site! I stumbled upon it while searching for fig recipes! Your fig bars were amazing by the way. The fitness site really caught my eye. I’ve unsuccessfully dieted my way to needing to lose 50 lbs. I found out that I am pre-diabetic and felt very discouraged. I decided to add exercise to my life and I’ve just started, but like the feeling it gives me. It feels freeing to see that it is possible to eat healthy and get to healthy place without dieting. I’m nervous to just eat without counting every single calorie, but that has gotten me no where except for starvation and binges.

Thanks for the inspiration and let me know if you have any tips for someone just starting out on this healthy eating and fitness journy.

Hey Jennifer! I am so proud of you and all you’re doing with your life! I’m glad you finally decided to jump in and do what you’ve been wanting to do since our MSABC days. I’ve been telling everyone I know about your blog (word of mouth is free advertising!). You’ve kind of re-inspired me to back into my yoga practice, which has taken a back seat to work and grad school. So, thank you for that.

Hi Jen!
I was vacationing in Maui last week and went to a luau where we sat with a lovely couple from Mount Pleasant, North Carolina and I had to tell her all about your blog. She happened to mention that her son went to school with a guy in the Avett Brother’s band and asked me if I knew of them, which I told her I did because of you. We discussed the white water park you have blogged about and other things in the area.
Anyway, it was really random and fun to know about some of the things she talked about from reading your blog. Very nice lady too– makes me wonder if you have the accent she has! :)

I was wondering how I can find it again, because it looks like it only goes back too April! I only found it because it came up on the bottom as blogs I might like! I just started reading your blog and I absolutely love it!!! It’s great to see someone who is on such a positive path in life-very inspiring.
My question for you is how did you get started on your path to wellness? I am currently looking for that path myself and have learned (duh) that it has to be a lifestyle lived, not a feeble attempt. Any advice for someone starting out (again)…thanks in advance!

Hey Jen, I have a question/topic suggestion.Your posts frequently mention private yoga sessions. I’ve never had a private yoga session, but I’ve been practicing for two years and I usually get pretty good attention from the instructor because the classes I attend are small. I’m wondering:
– Advantages & reasons to have private yoga sessions
– When to have a private session (are they mainly for beginners, or would it be beneficial to have a private session after practicing for 2 years?)
– How often do you suggest having a private session? (Do you have clients that come back every week?)
– How to find a good private instructor

I LOVE your website! I just got into Yoga through P90X and have enjoyed reading a lot of your Yoga related posts. My Yoga goal right now is to lose enough weight to go from Bridge to Wheel…and maybe one day to do Crane Pose, although the last one is pretty ambitious. :)

And your cooking website, HOLY COW! I just printed about 10-12 recipes that I want to make and try right now! LOL

I always struggle with which type of peanut butter to get! Reduced fat is healthier in terms of calories, but worse everywhere else — Do you have a recommendation?

Hey! I follow your blog daily and really enjoy seeing your workouts and what you eat. I have copied and become addicted to your breakfast of greek yogurt, nut butter, granola and fruit combos! They are so yummy and the variations are endless!

I like to think of myself as a pretty healthy, clean eater. Sweets and processed chips and crackers account for about 10% of my day. I feel that I’ve been eating too many carbs (whole wheat breads, ww pasta, brown rice, etc) so I today I started my own little detox. Basically veggies, meat, dairy and healthy fats. I want to get rid of my daily sugar cravings/habit as well as carb cravings. From your posts, it looks like you don’t eat many breads, rice or pasta, except on occassion. Today is my first day and I am weak, starving and irritable! Will this pass? Have you always eaten a minimum amout of starches and why do you do it? I’m just curious!

You look great and I envy your job/jobs! I am too insecure and shy to attempt teaching classes, but it would be great to get paid to do what I love. :)

PS my parent’s just moved to Charlotte from Dallas/ Ft Worth so I’ll be visiting a lot! Continue posting names of good restaurants and farmer’s markets you go to. I like to pass that info along to my parent’s. (sorry for any typos, I am using my phone!)

I’m interested in making a similar change as you from my current full-time into yoga and nutrition and I’m nervous! I have so many questions, for example what do you do for health insurance? I do believe I overworked my knee over the past 2 weeks with excessive runner and lots of squats and lunges, which is my mistake obviously. But I was wondering what you would recommend so that I can still get in an awesome intense workout without hitting my knees any harder for a little while while they recoup! Thank you for all the great suggestions and helped you have provided to me already, you have really helped and inspired me to become more motivated!

Love your blog! I love how honest you are with your readers and really admire the fact that you left a 9-5 desk job to pursue a career you love! I have two questions– 1) any tips for first-time marathon runners? I am running my first (and probably last :) ) next weekend and it’s very intimidating to think about. 2) Have you ever done/what are your thoughts on barre classes? I am a Pure Barre instructor and loooove it and I know you’re pretty well-versed in all types of workouts so I’d love to hear your input!

Hi Jen,

I am an RD that actually works in Greenville NC and I really enjoy your blog. I have a question for you regarding yoga. I would like to start doing some yoga this year for two reasons. #1 I am a runner and I want to improve my flexibility and strength. #2 I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease about 3 years ago and which affects my pituitary gland and my acupuncturist actually suggested I try yoga in an effort to stimulate things to begin functioning normally again. So my questions are: What is a good way to begin with yoga (DVD suggestions etc) for flexibility and strength and do you know a specific type of yoga that positively affects hormone production specifically pituitary and/or thyroid.
