Sushi and Cupcakes

Happy Friday! We are staying in town again this weekend (yay!). The weekend feels so much longer when we do!

Yesterday for lunch I had no appetite. Let me repeat that – I had no appetite. Weird. Unlike me. You know I’m a three meals a day kind of girl and I am always ready to eat. I turned to a trusty green monster as a way to get some fuel in my body. I knew I needed it because I had a run planned after work.

Big green monster with skim milk, chocolate protein powder, ice, half of a banana, strawberries and spinach.

After work I ran four very muggy, very sweaty miles after a thunderstorm. The good thing about my hot yoga practice is that it has made the transition into hot weather running painless. Usually I struggle with a few weeks of difficult runs as my body adjusts to the heat/humidity. Not so this year – nice!

Dinner last night was a repeat of Wednesday’s dinner. Chicken enchiladas and quinoa with black beans, corn and peppers. Delicious. I craved it all day yesterday!

My Friday ritual is starting my day with a hot vinyasa class at Y2. Class was awesome this morning and I think we’re starting to see some minor improvement with big toe flexibility, or at least that’s what my teacher says. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I left yoga happy and grateful for my yoga studio and my yoga practice!

Breakfast was prepared at 5:45 a.m. before I left for yoga.

And eaten at my desk when I got to work. “Overnight” oats with oats, vanilla Greek yogurt, skim milk, blueberries, chia seeds and dried cranberries. Topped off with a healthy blob of almond butter! Not pretty but cold and creamy. Hit the spot on a hot morning.

I had a lunch date with two of my former co-workers from American Cancer Society. We met at Sushi 101.

I had a tuna avocado roll and a seaweed salad. It was a fun lunch full of chatter as we caught up on life!

After lunch I told myself, “Walk to your car. Just get in your car.” It was like there was a force guiding me to Polka Dot Bakery. The next thing I knew I was buying everyone cupcakes for dessert.

This strawberry cupcake didn’t stand a chance. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Off to enjoy the weekend! We’re having my in law’s over tonight for a casual dinner – grilled pizzas with fancy-ish toppings, salad and I think I’ll make an ice cream pie for dessert since it’s so hot!

Hope you all have fun weekend plans!
