Hi and happy Twosday! Today’s palindrome date of 2/22/22 is a fun one, especially since it’s falling on a Tuesday. The teachers at preschool carpool this morning were all dressed in tie-dye shirts and colorful tutus (get it?). I thought it was super cute.

I subbed a CY26 class at Charlotte Yoga after dropping Finn off. It differs from the CY Flow classes that I usually teach in that it’s a set sequence of 26 postures, there are no chaturangas and the poses are held longer. The intention of the class is to help students relieve stress, improve alignment, heal injuries and build strength. The overall vibe of the class is slower and more chill but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. I love that we have this class on the schedule and would love to teach it more regularly. I think it’s a wonderfully balanced and challenging practice and a great compliment to any power yogis’s practice.

I’m home doing work on the computer now but I’ll be heading back to the studio to teach a flow class this evening.

I have some food related things for you today including a few products that I’m loving, what I bought at Whole Foods on a recent shopping trip and a peek into my fridge.

First up, five products that I can’t get enough of right now.

FIVE FOOD PRODUCTS THAT I’M LOVING RIGHT NOW

good culture double cream classic

Stacy’s Pita Thins and Good Culture Double Cream Classic cottage cheese. I love these two products both separately and together. I like to dip the pita chips into the cottage cheese.

I first tried the Stacy’s Pita Thins at my grandmother’s over Christmas. I loved how light, thin and crispy they were so I’ve been buying them in lieu of traditional pita chips ever since. Finn likes them too and I feel like they’re a little easier for him to get in his mouth and chew.

The Good Culture Double Cream Classic is hands-down my favorite cottage cheese on the market. The double cream is a step up from their 4% whole milk classic formula (which I also LOVE) and it’s so rich and indulgent. It’s perfect for snacking, stirring into scrambled eggs, topping a baked potato, etc. It’s organic and the only ingredients are pasture-raised milk, cream, Celtic sea salt, and live and active cultures. 10/10 recommend.

wildbrine red beet and cabbage organic kraut

wildbrine Red Beet and Cabbage Organic Kraut. I’ve been a fan of the wildbrine brand for a while now but this was my first time trying the red beet and cabbage kraut. The occasion was that wildbrine was on sale and this was the only type they had left. That ended up being a great thing because I now like it as much as the green kraut that I typically buy. The only ingredients are red cabbage, beets, pear, sea salt, ginger and garlic. The earthiness of the beets and sweetness of red cabbage is perfect with the tang from the brine. Bonus: it’s fermented and contains probiotics so a good gut booster. I like to add spoonfuls to my grain bowls and salads. I also like it with scrambled eggs.

cedar's pesto hommus

Cedar’s Pesto HummusIt’s safe to say that Cedar’s is one of my top three favorite hummus brands. I love that they’re always releasing new flavor combinations. I recently tried their limited batch Pesto Hommus and YUM! Definitely try this one out before it’s gone.

Whole Foods 365 organic white balsamic dressing

Whole Foods 365 Organic White Balsamic Vinaigrette. This has been my go-to salad dressing for several months now. It’s light on my salads and doesn’t weigh down more delicate types of lettuce. I also find that the balance of sweet and vinegar/acid is nice.

WHAT I BOUGHT AT WHOLE FOODS

You guys always love a good grocery haul so I snapped some photos after a recent Whole Foods shopping trip.

Whole Foods produce
  • Broccoli
  • Navel oranges (they were so sweet and juicy!)
  • Celery
  • Cherry tomatoes (these have become something I always have to have on hand – I’m hooked on them!)
  • Baby carrots and regular carrots (baby carrots mostly for dog treats)
  • Garlic
  • Fingerling potatoes
  • Strawberries
  • Baby bella mushrooms
  • Baby arugula
  • Vertical Roots Beautiful Butter Lettuce – two things to share here…1) I love this brand of lettuce and have been buying it so much! Their arugula is really great too! 2) I have been on a butter lettuce kick and it’s such a nice change from spring mix/spinach.
  • Brussel sprouts
  • Avocados
  • Cripps Pink apples
  • Ginger
  • Russet potatoes – have been buying these for loaded baked potato dinners
  • Sweet potatoes – have been roasting these for salad/grain bowl toppers
Whole Foods frozen foods
  • Chocolate ice cream – for Finn! 🙂
  • Frozen artichoke hearts – just a good thing to keep on hand
  • Frozen strawberries, mangos, spinach, cherries, raspberries and blueberries. We use all of these in smoothies.
Whole Foods shopping
  • Oat milk
  • Salmon
  • Shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese
  • wildbrine Red Beet and Cabbage Kraut
  • Siggi’s 4% whole milk plain yogurt
  • Good Culture 4% whole milk cottage cheese (they were out of the double cream)
  • Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs – really like these eggs a lot
  • Nellie’s Free-Range Sea Salted Butter
  • Colby jack cheese slices
  • Organic mild Italian chicken sausage – Finn and I both love chicken sausage and use it for a lot of different meals
what I bought at Whole Foods
  • Vanilla Animal Cookies – the Whole Foods Animal Cookies are definitely our favorite! They’re so good.
  • Dave’s Killer Bread Plain Awesome Bagels – y’all…my child is obsessed with these bagels! He asks for one every single morning for breakfast. He used to eat them toasted with butter and cream cheese but now he just wants “plain bagel.” He won’t even let me toast it.
  • Marinara sauce
  • Near East Parmesan Couscous
  • Dave’s Killer Bread Thin-Sliced Good Seed
  • Artichoke hearts
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Coconut water
  • Hearts of palm
  • Dish soap

A PEEK INTO MY FRIDGE

inside of my refrigerator

And here’s my fridge all loaded up! While I never run out of fridge space, I am always packing my freezer to the brim. I really miss having a secondary freezer. Need to make that happen again soon. I swear, I buy so many more frozen foods now that I have a child…both for myself and for him! Sometimes I have to avoid going to Trader Joe’s just because I know I’ll be so tempted by the frozen products and I don’t have room for them, haha.

Alright, that’s all for me! Enjoy the rest of your TWOSDAY! (Wouldn’t it be fun if today was your anniversary or birthday? I saw an article that Vegas weddings are rocking today!)

QUESTIONS

What styles of yoga do you enjoy the most?

Any food products or brands that you’ve discovered or have been especially loving lately?

Do you have a secondary fridge/freezer?
