Friday Night Out at Good Food

Good morning!

I’m currently on layover in Atlanta on my way to Florida. My flight left Charlotte this morning at 6 a.m. so that meant a 4 a.m. wake up call. So early but worth it to be at the beach by 9 a.m.

I just ate a spinach and feta egg white wrap from Starbucks with a banana. I generally try to avoid buying food at Starbucks but I like this wrap as an on the go/travel breakfast option. It comes in right around 300 calories with 19 grams of protein. Like most “fast food” options, it is a little high in sodium but overall it’s a good choice for me and it tastes great!

In other news, my gate is directly across from a Five Guys and I’ve spent the last 20 minutes listening to their employees shout “GOOD MORNING!” to everyone that walks by. It definitely makes you smile. (But did not convince me to buy a hamburger for breakfast there! ;))

Despite my early wake-up call, I went out last night and had a really great evening.

I layered three of my favorite necklaces from Erin McDermott. I’ve been all about layering necklaces and bracelets lately. It’s a fun way to dress up an outfit.

Dinner was at Good Food on Montford. For those of you who have asked for my favorite Charlotte spots, this is my #1. I love this restaurant for its friendly but attentive service, cozy and warm ambiance and incredible food. This bottle of wine was ordered based on recommendation from our waiter. It was lovely.

Good Food is a small plates restaurant and their menu changes seasonally.

5.2carp.jpgWe started with beef carppaccio which was melt in your mouth delicious.

5.2gnocchi.jpgNext up was the parmesan gnocchi with slow braised rabbit, sweet marsala, stewed tomatoes and arugula. I think this is the best thing I’ve eaten in months. The gnocchi was soft and fluffy, the rabbit was tender and the sauce was so flavorful. Not a drop of sauce was left after I soaked it up with bread after we polished off the gnocchi.

5.2fish.jpgThis was the fresh catch which is a rotating fish feature. It was served over asparagus and a warm potato and egg salad.

5.2brownie.jpgDessert was a fudgy, chewy and warm chocolate brownie with BISCOFF ICE CREAM (!!!) and chocolate sauce. Every bite made my soul happy.

I absolutely love evenings full of great food, wine and conversation. I think I said “everything is so good” at least 50 times over the course of the evening. While I love to cook at home, there’s something special about meals like this featuring foods I’d never make at home.

Time to publish and board! See y’all later from the beach!
