I’m so happy to wake up to this…

5.4morning.jpgI really need to think harder about that dream of mine to move to the U.S. Virgin Islands and open a yoga studio/training center. 😉

In all seriousness, I want to start off today’s post with an important topic. Realizing when you need a break. (And letting yourself take one.) It doesn’t matter how much you love your life or what you do, sometimes you need a break from it.

My work blurs into my life A LOT. I love the gym and I not only teach and train there but I also workout there and hang out with people from the gym. I love the yoga studio and I teach and practice there and the majority of the people I spend my social time with I have met through yoga. I love living in Charlotte but I either teach or train 7 days a week (only one class in the morning both Saturday and Sunday) and I rarely get a chance to get away, even for a weekend.

I have shared this before but I feel grateful that my work doesn’t really feel like work. I never get the Sunday night blues or dread a day that I have to get up and do what I do.

With that said, I do reach a point where I need to step back and take a short break from it all. I’m in a profession where I give, give, give of my energy and sometimes I just run out of energy to give. I’ve become pretty good about realizing when I reach that point and I have learned to LISTEN.

That’s why I booked a last minute flight to spend the weekend at the beach with my parents. I haven’t seen them since Christmas and have been pretty homesick since Easter. I reached that point a couple of weeks ago where I needed to get OUT of Charlotte for a few days. I tell my yoga students all the time that you cannot push, push, push your way through life. It’s totally okay to say “I NEED A BREAK!” This happens in yoga practice through taking child’s pose. So I’m kinda taking child’s pose on life right now so that I can go back to Charlotte fully present and ready to share my fire with my students and clients!

Step one of reclaiming my fire…horizontal position on the beach for three days with a book in hand and sleeping as much as possible. I took two different one hour siestas on the beach yesterday and slept 10 hours last night. Ahhhhh….

Have a wonderful Sunday! And do something relaxing!
