It’s been so nice to be out of my kitchen and in my dad’s…both delicious and inspiring. My dad’s been getting all crazy lately with making homemade bread, pizza dough and even his own yogurt on the regular. I’m going to share all of that in a separate post where I can brag on him.
I think you’ll love this recent eats post!
Breakfast
I introduced my parents to green smoothies. My dad said he’s going to play around with them and try out different recipes/combinations!
Lunch
Turkey on dad’s homemade sourdough with mayo, avocado, tomato and muenster cheese.
Salad with leftover grouper from one of my dinners. Homemade sourdough on the side.
I made this sandwich today to take down to the beach with me. Turkey, mayo, dijon, avocado, tomatoes and spinach. I had one bite left in my sandwich when I realized I forgot the cheese. Didn’t even miss it!
Dinner
The first night I was here with went to dinner at Rick’s Crab Trap. It’s a no-frills but crazy good seafood restaurant in Fort Walton. I started with a half dozen oysters on the half shell.
My dinner was blackened grouper and it was so flavorful. Loved the thick crust of seasoning and oh hushpuppies…
My mom had the crawfish boil. This dinner was a labor of love! It took her forever to get through all these things.
And my dad had the crab and shrimp steamer plate. I snuck a few crab legs and shrimp.
The second night I was here my dad grilled rib eyes and we had salad on the side.
And last night we had my dad’s homemade pizza. They have it every Tuesday night but I convinced them to bump it up a night and have it while I was here because I LOVE PIZZA! I had three slices! 🙂
Dessert
The night that we went out my mom and I split a piece of Derby pie. (It was Derby day.) The pie was served warm and was super chocolatey and delicious.
Another night I had a bowl of vanilla ice cream with berries and chocolate sauce.
It’s been three days of yummy eats. I feel spoiled! 🙂
What’s you favorite thing that your parents cook?
