Hey, hey! This is part one of a series featuring homemade salad dressings. I quit buying salad dressings years ago in favor of whipping up my own creations. When I was in high school/college my parents started making their own balsamic vinaigrette for our salads at home. I could never find a bottled balsamic that I liked as much as theirs so I started making my own. From their, I began to make all of my dressings at home. They’re usually super simple and only take a minute to whip up.
If you have never tried making your own dressings, I highly encourage that you do. They’re typically much healthier than their bottled counterparts and taste fresh and flavorful.
In this series I’m going to share the following…
– Honey Mustard
– Balsamic Honey Dijon Vinaigrette
– Tahini Dressing
– Lemon Vinaigrette
– Hummus Dressing
Today we’re starting with honey mustard!
The ingredients list is simple and healthy! Honey, Dijon mustard, plain greek yogurt and lemon.
You’ll place all of your ingredients into a small bowl. I never measure out my ingredients…I just do the “a little of this, a little of that routine.” Once you’ve made homemade dressing for a while, I promise you’ll do the same.
And then whisk to combine. I use this honey mustard not only on salads but also as a dipping sauce for wraps and with panko or pecan crusted chicken. It’s tangy, a little sweet and creamy. Also, much healthier than the stuff you buy in a bottle! Note that a strong Dijon mustard adds quite a kick but spicy or whole grain mustard work as well.
