Hi! I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. I stayed in town and kept it pretty low key. I did decide to take a blog/technology break and spent time doing things around the house, hanging out with friends and teaching instead. It was a nice mental break.
I’ll share scenes from the weekend later today but I have something more exciting to share with you now. (Warning…lots of golden retriever photos ahead.)
This weekend was my sweet Sullie’s 8th birthday!!!
It is impossible for me to believe that eight years ago I brought home this puppy who has become one of the best things to ever happen to me. And I mean that with every bit of my heart.
I grew up with dogs and have been a dog lover my whole life but I have been blown away every day for eight years by how much I love this face and sweet soul. She has been a constant companion for me through my 20’s (and into my early 30s now!!!) which have been full of big life changes including multiple moves, new cities, jobs, relationships and more. I am so very grateful for her companionship, her warm and welcoming brown eyes and her big personality!
Speaking of personality…I was just having a conversation last night about how she has kept so many of the mannerisms she had as a puppy as she has grown up. For example, her love for sleeping belly up. This was eight years ago…
And this was today…I never let her sleep in the bed but I made a special exception for her birthday. When I opened my eyes this morning, this is what I found. 🙂 She makes me smile countless times every day.
“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” – Roger Caras
Happy birthday Sullie! Here’s to many more walks with her nose in the monkey grass, rolling on the floor play sessions where she pretends to be ferocious, belly up naps and laughs! She truly is a testament that dogs are our best friends!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a month since I ran the Every Woman’s Marathon! One of the fun things about this year’s race was getting to visit Scottsdale, Arizona. It was my first time in Arizona and while it was a quick trip, I tried to maximize my time there. Here’s a [...]

In keeping with tradition, I’m coming in hot with a last-minute gift guide. As much as I’d like to think that one day I’ll be the kind of person who has their holiday shopping done before Black Friday…it’s just not a likely scenario. And I’m okay with that! I hope this list helps you finish [...]
