Good morning! Holiday weekend is over and time to get back in the swing of things. My day kicked off bright and early with 5:30 and 6:30 a.m. training clients. As I mentioned last week, I am training one of my friends who is in her third trimester. She is still rocking it in the gym and it’s so inspiring to see her showing up at 5:30 a.m. and feeling so good. I absolutely LOVE training pre and postnatal clients. It is so special to work with women through the changes in their bodies and to help them feel empowered, strong and confident.
So before we get fully in the swing of the new week, let’s take a step back and I’ll share some photos from my very uneventful July Fourth weekend.
First, I taught a lot of yoga. I taught two classes on July Fourth, two on Saturday and one on Sunday. My message in my classes over the weekend were themed around freedom. My favorite quote came from this Tiny Buddha post about finding freedom.
“True freedom doesn’t come in the future, from a situation, or “from” anything at all, but is within you right now.”
I ended my weekend with a yoga practice. I haven’t been making it to my mat very often lately but couldn’t resist a Grace Morales class when it was announced she was subbing one day only at Charlotte Yoga. The room was packed, the energy was great and I was a sweaty mess. Grace doesn’t teach regularly these days so when there is a special chance to catch her, I jump on it.
I spent a lot of time at a friend’s pool. She prepared so much food for July 4 that we came over again on July 5 to continue the party! I got a lot of sun this weekend.
All of the food was super fresh, healthy and delicious. I enjoyed this pear and avocado salad with salmon and roasted veggies poolside. (And then a homemade chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich late night!)
It’s South Caroline peach season! I know I grew up in Georgia but I gotta admit that I love some SC peaches! I picked up a big basket and am currently brainstorming ideas for how I want to use them other than eating them straight up. Some thoughts that have come to mind are cobbler or crisp and homemade ice cream. Let me know if you have any other must try suggestions.
Speaking of summer things, I have been all about tomato sandwich lunches with fresh fruit on the side.
The best part of the weekend was the incredible weather. The humidity was unseasonably low, we received a break from daily afternoon showers and enjoyed abundant sunshine and beautiful sunsets. I went running Saturday night and Sunday morning because the weather was just too perfect. I also took Sullie for a long walk on Sunday evening to wind down the weekend and soak up the fresh air. I think summer nights are my absolute favorite time of the year.
One last fun thing…thanks to Spry Living for featuring Peanut Butter Runner as one of the 7 health bloggers they love!
