Weekend: All Is Calm, All is Bright

My weekend was…really good. I took three (much needed) days off of teaching and focused on chilling out (slept 10+ hours Saturday night…yes, yes and yes), spending time with people I care about and working on my book. I’m 15 days away from my deadline, 15,000+ words in and there many more still to be written. It’s a labor of love.

Here are some scenes from the weekend…

Backyard photo shoot with the girls.

She’s getting so big and her legs are long. I think she’s going to be taller than Sullie.

12.21christmascookies

Christmas cookie baking. Flourless peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and cranberry orange biscotti.

12.21chili

Crockpot chicken tortilla soup. I didn’t make this batch but here is my recipe. So easy, so good, so satisfying!

12.21baconbowl

Bacon bowl! Is this awesome or what?

12.21salad

The best kale salad I have ever had! Believe it or not, it was a Publix recipe. All you need is sweet potatoes, olive oil, salt and the Publix Sweet Kale Salad Kit. Here’s the recipe. It was AMAZING!

12.20zoey

The puppy life is so hard.

12.21bracelet

I received a really special gift from a really special friend. This bracelet couldn’t be more perfect for me right now. (And goes perfectly with one of my favorite posts from Danielle LaPorte ever.)

All is calm. All is bright. I feel happy. <3

What was the best part of your weekend?

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a month since I ran the Every Woman’s Marathon! One of the fun things about this year’s race was getting to visit Scottsdale, Arizona. It was my first time in Arizona and while it was a quick trip, I tried to maximize my time there. Here’s a [...]

Your Last-Minute Gift Guide For Everyone

In keeping with tradition, I’m coming in hot with a last-minute gift guide. As much as I’d like to think that one day I’ll be the kind of person who has their holiday shopping done before Black Friday…it’s just not a likely scenario. And I’m okay with that! I hope this list helps you finish [...]

Thankful in Florida

Thankful in Florida

I am settled in back at home after a very special Thanksgiving in Florida. I cherish all of our trips to Florida but this one was extra meaningful because we had a bigger holiday crew this year. My cousin’s family came down and it was just the best to have a big tableful of people [...]

Every Woman’s Marathon Scottsdale Recap (marathon #4!!!)

Every Woman’s Marathon Scottsdale Recap (marathon #4!!!)

I am on a three-hour flight home from Scottsdale so it seems like the perfect time to relive and recap yesterday’s Every Woman’s Marathon experience. I had a great day and I’m very proud of the race that I ran. It was a practice in “fun running” and that not every race effort has to [...]
