Wednesday in the Life

It’s been a minute since I wrote a day in the life style of post. In this post I am sharing a detailed recap of what my Wednesday looked like from start to finish. It was a long and very full day – but a good day and an accurate depiction of a day of work in the yoga/fitness space.

While I teach and train every day Monday-Friday, I typically only have 2-3 crazy go, go, go days like this each week so it’s doable. Today (Thursday) for example, I only trained one client and taught one yoga class and I’m home with Finn all afternoon hanging out, working on the computer and getting things done around the house. Knowing that I would have this downtime today got me through the crazy push of my Wednesday (Tuesday looked very similar).

Okay, here goes!

4:45a – I woke up an hour before my alarm with my mind whirling in anticipation of all that was planned for the day. I knew I wouldn’t be able to get back to sleep but wanted to rest a little longer so I stayed in bed and did a Tara Brach meditation. This was a lovely meditation and great to start the day from a space of deep listening.

5:20a – I got out of bed and went downstairs to feed and let the dogs out and make coffee and breakfast. I ate a Dave’s Killer Boomin’ Berry bagel with butter and cream cheese. I typically don’t eat this early but I woke up hungry and knew my morning was stacked and I wouldn’t have time between clients.

5:45a – shower, get ready, pack bag for the day

5:15a – leave for the gym armed with a Yeti full of black coffee!

6:30a – trained first client

7:15a – trained second client

8a – trained third client

8:45a – hit the treadmill for a 30-minute interval run

This run felt great and was just the right amount of challenge for my energy levels!

9:30a – made my way from the gym to the yoga studio to teach a hot class (luckily they are less than a mile apart and it takes less than 5 minutes to get from one to the other). Class was great and we listened to this playlist!

10:45a – arrived back at the gym. Quickly showered and got dressed for my last client.

11a – trained my last client of the day

11:45a – left the gym to go pick Finn up from camp. He’s doing a fun gymnastics-based camp this week with some of his buddies.

12:10p – got Finn from camp and we headed home

12:30p – home for lunch

kale and quinoa salad

I made a grilled cheese for Finn and a salad for myself. Massaged lacinato kale, quinoa, cheery tomatoes, cucumbers, chopped roast chicken, avocado, dried cranberries, pepitas and lemon tahini dressing. Everything in this bowl but the quinoa, cranberries, pepitas and dressing was from the farmers market and so fresh and tasty!

1:15p – started getting ready for a photo shoot

1:45p – Virginia came over to hang out with Finn and I headed out to the shoot

2:15-3:45p – shoot with Bruce Williams to get content we need for the app.

cheez its and Coke Zero

4:15p – snacked on Cheez-Its and a Coke Zero while I wrote the workout for the outdoor fitness class I was teaching that event.

wayfair porch swing

I also got some snuggle time with Finn in on our new chair/swing on the patio. My handyman was at my house most of the day yesterday working through a punch list and one of the tasks was hanging this chair! We love it!

5:15p – we left home to go lead Sweat with Salata. It’s a free outdoor workout that is hosted by Salata. It takes place every Wednesday at 6p and is coached by a rotating group of some of Charlotte’s top fitness instructors. I am leading the workout three times this summer as part of my ambassadorship with Salata. The event is family-friendly and open to everyone!

Clearly Finn needed a little power nap on the way there. I think his summer camp is wearing him out! He was a little on the grumpy side when he woke up from this car nap but bounced back quickly.

7p – we wrapped up Sweat with Salata…which was a sweaty good time! Finn had fun running around and loved getting on the mic to help with the countdowns. He also spent half the workout wiping me down with a cold lavender washcloth that was provided by Restore Hyper Wellness. I was teaching while being toweled off – it was hysterical.

7:30p – we got home and I made dinner.

Trader Joe's fried rice

Finn had fish sticks and I had Trader Joe’s frozen vegetable fried rice to which I added some quickly defrosted frozen shrimp to as well as a scrambled egg. While I was eating and relaxing I caught up on some text messages and emails and edited the photos for this post.

8:30p – shower and nighttime routine for Finn

9p – got Finn down and published this Instagram post from bed. Came back downstairs and got everything squared away before heading back up to bed. Also ate some cookies and cream ice cream.

10p – read my Kindle for all of about 2 minutes before falling asleep. I just finished Nora Goes Off Script and started The Five-Star Weekend. Don’t miss my summer reading list post!

THE END!

QUESTIONS

Do you eat breakfast right when you wake up or wait a while?

What’s your favorite type of run (interval, speed, long, easy, etc)?

Do you do later bedtime with your kids during the summer? We’ve been closer to 9 most nights!
