Hi from the Dominican Republic!
I said goodbye to this (growing!) fluff ball on Wednesday morning and headed to the airport to meet up with my girls.
It was an easy 3.5 hour direct flight down here. I packed lunch for everyone. PB&Js, grapes, carrots and pretzels. I watched “This Is Where I Leave You” on the flight and loved it.
Between the quick stop we made at duty-free in the Punta Cana airport and the snack we brought with us, we’re pretty set when it comes to snacking, red wine and tequila. 🙂
Several experiences with all-inclusive resorts has taught me that bringing your own wine is a very good idea. They have plenty of nice selections when it comes to liquor but the wine leaves something to be desired.
We got our toes in the sand for a few hours yesterday afternoon after we arrived.
We’re staying at the Majestic Colonial Resort in Punta Cana. I’ll post a full review on it once I get home.
We all agreed that we wanted to get up and move every morning before vegging for the rest of the day. (We all met through our shared love for hot yoga and being active.) This morning I put everyone through my “The Running 500” workout. We did it outside in 93% humidity so it was a bit of a sweat-fest but a great way to start the day.
The rest of our day was spent beachside reading, sleeping and sipping on drinks. I fully confess to being a “lazy” vacationer. I have no interest in excursions and being active. I never stop in my daily life so on vacation I like to slow WAY down. Of course this would be different if I was on a trip specifically to sightsee in another country but if I’m on a beach, my butt is going to be in a beach chair!
Grateful for my friends and a getaway!
Sending warm thoughts and sunshine to all of you digging out of snow and surviving the cold. (And I mean that in the nicest way possible!)
Beach vacations…are you an on-the-go excursion kind of person or do you love to kick back and relax?

I am sitting down to write this post with teary eyes and a heavy heart. On New Year’s Eve we said goodbye to Zoey. It seems like only yesterday that I brought this fluffy nugget home. Many of you have been here with me since Zoey was a puppy. She was the sweetest little sister [...]

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a month since I ran the Every Woman’s Marathon! One of the fun things about this year’s race was getting to visit Scottsdale, Arizona. It was my first time in Arizona and while it was a quick trip, I tried to maximize my time there. Here’s a [...]

In keeping with tradition, I’m coming in hot with a last-minute gift guide. As much as I’d like to think that one day I’ll be the kind of person who has their holiday shopping done before Black Friday…it’s just not a likely scenario. And I’m okay with that! I hope this list helps you finish [...]

I am settled in back at home after a very special Thanksgiving in Florida. I cherish all of our trips to Florida but this one was extra meaningful because we had a bigger holiday crew this year. My cousin’s family came down and it was just the best to have a big tableful of people [...]

Advent calendars have become such a fun tradition for us during the holiday season. Finn really looks forward to his daily surprise and I love the huge array of calendars to choose from – for kids and adults! I let Finn pick out his advent calendar this year and I think I might treat myself [...]

I am on a three-hour flight home from Scottsdale so it seems like the perfect time to relive and recap yesterday’s Every Woman’s Marathon experience. I had a great day and I’m very proud of the race that I ran. It was a practice in “fun running” and that not every race effort has to [...]
