You’re totally singing Beyonce in your head now, right?
My life changed a little bit yesterday. I received a very generous gift of a brand new 64-gig iPod touch for all of my yoga music and work social media needs. Within an hour I had it fully loaded with all my favorite apps and every yoga playlist I’ve created in the four years I’ve been teaching…with 45 gigs of storage still left!!!!
This all came about for a couple reasons. First, I made the terrible mistake of only getting a 16 gig iPhone 5 when it came out. My phone is CONSTANTLY at storage capacity between the apps I have and the photos I take for my blog and social media. I keep a couple yoga playlists on it for back ups but I’ve always used a separate iPod for my yoga music. Well, the second reasons relates to that second iPod…it’s over four years old. One of my students gave it to me in my first year of teaching because she wasn’t using it. It’s an old school iPod that doesn’t take photos, play music, has no app store, etc. One of my friends and fellow teachers works for Apple and saw my iPod one day and commented that she’d never even seen that model before! 🙂
So anyway…the need for the upgrade came when it became mandatory that I access WiFi and a specific app in order to play music in class. I am also managing the Instagram account for the yoga studio and find it to be a bit of a pain in the ass to log out of my personal account (which means you lose all of your hashtags…the struggle) and switch to log in to the studio’s account. I really wish Instagram had an integrated account feature like Facebook pages but oh well…
The new iPod solves all of it! It basically has all the features of the iPhone except the ability to make calls. I can text from it, get on the Internet and social media, have my work email account on it, take photos (that are better than the camera on my iPhone!), house all my music on it and more. All I need is a WiFi connection instead of a cellular connection. Pretty sweet.
So my PSA is that the iPod touch is a fraction of the cost of an iPhone and super awesome. It weighs nothing and is super sleek. I’m obsessed. I can keep my work life on my iPod and my personal life on my phone.
And now for recent eats…
Overnight oats made a triumphant return this week. Such a perfect breakfast to pack when you’re on the go.
I met a friend for breakfast at The Mayobird this morning. It’s definitely become my go-to meeting spot. I stayed and worked for two hours after! I had a kale and goat cheese fritatta, fruit and two giant cups of coffee.
I have been really into salads with quinoa lately. This is a mix of arugula and spring mix tossed with a lemon olive oil and topped with quinoa, sundried tomatoes, cucumber, goat cheese, turkey, avocado and a tahini dressing (which I’ve also been in love with…recipe soon).
Turkey melt on my dad’s homemade sourdough with avocado and spicy cheese. Salad on the side.
Another quinoa salad of arugula, spring mix, apples, turkey, avocado, cucumbers, feta, dried cranberries, almonds, aged balsamic and Trader Joe’s pear gorgonzola dressing.
Panera lunch of Fuji Apple Chicken salad with a turkey cranberry flatbread and chips.
Roasted veggie dinner with chicken sausage, parsnips, carrots, turnips and brussels sprouts topped with melted cheese.
Marinated chicken breasts, roasted sweet potatoes and broccolini.
Fish tacos!
Burrito bowls with leftovers from the fish tacos. I layered shredded cabbage, brown rice with black beans, tomato and corn, cheese, lime crema, salsa, avocado, fajita rubbed chicken, cilantro and lime wedges for an amazing combo.
That wraps it up…time to find something to eat for dinner and something to watch on TV!
Where do you keep your music and workout playlists?
What have you been eating this week?
