Thanks to all of you for the sweet birthday messages on Instagram and on the blog. This has been one of those birthdays that seems to stretch out over a few days! Last year I shared a “Day in the Life: Birthday Edition” post after my birthday so I thought I’d do that again this year. It’s been a great week of celebration and my heart is full!
My day started with an early wake up call to teach my 6 a.m. yoga class.
I was welcomed with a roomful of yogis including some of my friends who got up early just to take my class on my birthday, cupcakes, flowers and balloons so it was a pretty awesome start to my birthday.
Let’s all say a little prayer that I can keep this orchid alive. Please send me your orchid care tips because I have yet to successfully do it!
I came home to make breakfast and got my flowers in vases. I absolutely love having fresh flowers around the house!
I decided to start my day with a smoothie as usual knowing that lots of treats were probably coming later in the day!
After breakfast and blogging, I headed back to the studio to practice and teach another class. Check out this new headband from Suzee Bee Active. A friend of mine’s mother started this company and she sent me a few headbands to try out. I got so many compliments on my cheerful outfit and colorful headband.
I had a sushi lunch after class at the studio (yes, the yoga studio now has a sushi bar…it’s kind of life changing.)
After lunch I had my hair cut and colored (it had been over four months!), got a little more work done and ate a carrot cake cupcake.
Later that evening I got all dressed up in a little white dress to go out for my dinner. My fiance took me to Ruth’s Chris in Uptown Charlotte where he had arranged for us to dine in the restaurant’s wine cellar. It was intimate and cozy!
We started with a chopped salad.
And then shared a petite fillet oscar style (with crab cake, hollandaise and asparagus) and some creamed spinach. If you haven’t eaten at Ruth’s Chris, their signature steak preparation is broiling it under a 1,000 degree broiler, serving it on a 500 degree plate and slathering butter all over the steak. It’s pretty decadent.
They brought me a mini cheesecake with a candle for dessert. It was a really nice evening.
The following evening we had a group celebration at the studio after my evening class.
There was more sushi!
And more cupcakes! The ones with the tan icing were Oreo cupcakes with peanut butter frosting and OH MY GOD! So good!
Feeling grateful for so much love and abundance in life right now. Cheers to 32!
