Does anyone else feel a little out of sorts right now? I feel like it’s been one big weekend for the last 5 days. We kept calling the days we were gone for Thanksgiving “the weekend” and then got back and it actually was the weekend. One of the biggest perks about this 5 day weekend has been getting lots of sleep. I think I’ve averaged 8-9 hours every night.

Before we get into the weekly workout recap, I have an exciting announcement to share with you.

premeir protein powder

I have been selected as a brand ambassador for Premier Protein again in 2016! I enjoyed working with Premier Protein in 2015. They sponsored my Ultimate Plank Challenge and I even got to meet some members of their PR team while I was in NYC over the summer. I really like their products and I am almost never without a Premier Protein bar (gluten-free, 30 grams of protein, 270-290 calories) in my purse and gym bag (they are a great breakfast on the go) and I use their Vanilla Protein Powder in almost every smoothie I make.

You can expect lots of new recipes for things like Peanut Butter Protein Cookies and Chocolate Covered Strawberry Protein Shakes along with lots of fitness and nutrition tips! This continued ambassadorship is perfect as I enter a new year with a new focus on STRENGTH! (And strength of all forms…more on that to come.)

Now for the workouts. Weird week due to Thanksgiving and travel but still solid. Travel always means more running since it’s the easiest thing to do on the go. I’m also still going strong on my yoga challenge. We are almost at the halfway mark of the 62 day challenge and I’ve completed 20 practices. I am in good shape to hit my goal of 50 before January 1 if I get serious in December. Luckily, home practice and meditation can count for a few so I think I can pull it off!

I have to end this post with a huge THANK YOU to University of Georgia football coach Mark Richt. After 15 years as the head coach of the Bulldogs, Richt is stepping down. Coach Richt and I arrived at UGA right around the same time and I have always had so much respect for him both as a coach and a man. His grace under fire is very admirable. I give him major credit for lasting 15 seasons in a land where football is religion and coaches can be beloved one day and at the stake the next. One thing that always impressed me most about Coach Richt was that he stayed connected to the human element of all it all. It was evident that he cared about the well-being of his players first and foremost and held them to high standards when it came to their actions on and off the field. He’s also a family man who is the father of two biological children and two adopted children from Ukraine.

Big day for the Bulldog Nation. Farewell to Coach Richt and I’m wishing him much success and happiness in the future. It should be interesting to see how things shake out for us leading up to the next season.

What team are you cheering for this year?

Did you workout on Thanksgiving? If so, how did you sweat?

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a month since I ran the Every Woman’s Marathon! One of the fun things about this year’s race was getting to visit Scottsdale, Arizona. It was my first time in Arizona and while it was a quick trip, I tried to maximize my time there. Here’s a [...]

Every Woman’s Marathon Scottsdale Recap (marathon #4!!!)

I am on a three-hour flight home from Scottsdale so it seems like the perfect time to relive and recap yesterday’s Every Woman’s Marathon experience. I had a great day and I’m very proud of the race that I ran. It was a practice in “fun running” and that not every race effort has to [...]
