I am so happy that I was introduced to Blue Apron earlier this year. Although my experience with Blue Apron started as a partnership with the brand, it’s become something that I personally use regularly as well. A delivery the week before we moved was a lifesaver in helping me get dinner on the table while things were in disarray and I’ve got deliveries scheduled through the end of this year to help streamline meal planning and shopping during the busy holiday season.
If you’ve missed my past posts on Blue Apron, it’s a service that delivers a box to your doorstep that includes everything you need to make delicious, home cooked meals using farm fresh and high quality ingredients.
This is a small sampling of the delicious meals I’ve made with Blue Apron. I can honestly say that of the 20+ Blue Apron Meals I’ve tried, none have disappointed!
Here are six of my favorite things about Blue Apron.
1) Seasonal and high quality ingredients.
I can always count on Blue Apron meals to feature seasonal ingredients and flavors. My last couple of boxes have been packed full of fresh cranberries, sweet potatoes, kale, brussels sprouts and winter squash along with things like warm spice blends, chestnuts and more.
I have also found the meat and fish selection to be of high quality as well.
2) Delicious meatless meals.
I have several vegetarian friends who use Blue Apron and rave about it. I have loved every meatless meal I have received from them, including this Summer Ratatouille & Parmesan Polenta that I received before we moved.
3) Generous portion sizes.
I have found the Blue Apron portions to be extremely generous and we usually have leftovers from at least one or two of the meals each week. I reheated this Spiced Pork, Kale, Winter Squash and White Bean Soup and added avocado and plain yogurt for a warm lunch on a rainy day. We have never finished a Blue Apron meal feeling unsatisfied.
4) Blue Apron introduces me to new spices and ways of using ingredients.
In a recent delivery I received ras el hanout spice to make a North African Spiced Shrimp and Couscous with Dates, Kale and Carrots.
This was my first time trying ras el hanout and it was so good! Complex, spicy and very fragrant.
A couple of months ago I received ingredients to make a saffron aioli to top a Sauteed Shrimp Sandwich.
I make a lot of aiolis but had never thought to use saffron as the base ingredient. It was amazing!
5) Cooking Blue Apron meals is a fun and relaxing way to end the day.
It’s no secret that the kitchen is my happy place and I love coming home to have a new recipe to try.
Call me crazy but I find the washing, chopping and prepping to be so relaxing.
Especially when the finished product looks so lovely! Blue Apron provides awesome ideas for plating and styling your food so it not only tastes great but looks “fancy” too!
6) Blue Apron is easy to use and customizable.
You get to choose between 2-person meals which is one delivery with three meals or a family plan which is meant to be served family style and can come in one delivery/two meals or two deliveries/four meals. In addition, you get to pick your delivery day and your dietary preferences.
When you log in to your account you can see all the meals that are planned for you in the next few weeks. You can choose to change your menu or skip your delivery. There is no commitment required with Blue Apron and you can stop and start at any time.
I love the ability to customize your menu for the week. I have found this to be a great way to try some interesting vegetarian dishes.
