Weekend: We Love Movies + Holiday Party

It somehow became 11 p.m. on Monday (how does that happen?) so here is a quick weekend recap.

IM12.7salad

Friday morning clients followed by teaching yoga, lunch meeting (salad with avocado and a chickpea sweet potato burger), facial appointment (very needed peel) and then a quiet night at home catching up on work and life.

12.7spaghetti

I defrosted some spaghetti sauce from the freezer and served it over spaghetti squash. We snacked on a cheese plate while we were cleaning the house and cooking dinner.

Ricki-And-The-Flash-Images

We watched Meryl Streep’s new movie, Ricki and the Flash which I wish I could say was worth watching but kind of missed the mark.

12.7sushi

Sushi Saturday lunch at Y2 after taking and teaching. Apparently this is the new cold weather routine.

12.7party

We had our studio staff holiday party on Saturday night. You know it’s a yoga party when it ends with crazy yoga poses and acrobatics. Never fails. I got convinced to reenact this Dirty Dancing scene but bailed and pleaded with my friend not to let go of my hands. There is only so much trust one has being lifted overhead after wine. Ha. (The Bounty product placement is thanks to our holiday giving tree where we are collecting donations to support local charities.)

12.7earls

I got up Sunday morning and went a little cray cray decorating the house for the holidays in prep for a party I am hosting this weekend. We broke for brunch at Earl’s Grocery so I wouldn’t have to cook.

12.7greensgrits

Earl’s has definitely become our favorite casual spot to grab good food. I had a grit bowl with cheddar stone ground grits, crispy pork belly, a fried egg and green tomato chow chow. It was yum. Green juice on the side with kale, cilantro, jalepeno and some other good stuff.

I came home from brunch and got busy doing house stuff like cleaning, organizing and doing laundry until I had to teach yoga at 4.

dec2newmoviereleasenight

We watched the most amazing Pixar movie on Sunday night, Inside Out. I posted on Facebook about it earlier today and shared messaging about it with both of my classes. It was so wonderful.

The story is about an 11 year hold who moves from her childhood home in Minnesota to San Fransisco with her family due to her father’s job. It mostly takes place in her head and is told by the emotions Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear and Sadness. It’s a beautiful lesson to children (and powerful reminder to adults) that all of these emotions are important and useful at times. And although it would be great to feel Joy all the time, sometimes Sadness can be an important gateway to experiencing Joy.

Please watch.

And yes, we love movies and staying in and relaxing! 🙂

Have you seen any good movies lately? PLEASE share if you have

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a month since I ran the Every Woman’s Marathon! One of the fun things about this year’s race was getting to visit Scottsdale, Arizona. It was my first time in Arizona and while it was a quick trip, I tried to maximize my time there. Here’s a [...]

Your Last-Minute Gift Guide For Everyone

In keeping with tradition, I’m coming in hot with a last-minute gift guide. As much as I’d like to think that one day I’ll be the kind of person who has their holiday shopping done before Black Friday…it’s just not a likely scenario. And I’m okay with that! I hope this list helps you finish [...]

I am settled in back at home after a very special Thanksgiving in Florida. I cherish all of our trips to Florida but this one was extra meaningful because we had a bigger holiday crew this year. My cousin’s family came down and it was just the best to have a big tableful of people [...]

Every Woman’s Marathon Scottsdale Recap (marathon #4!!!)

Every Woman’s Marathon Scottsdale Recap (marathon #4!!!)

I am on a three-hour flight home from Scottsdale so it seems like the perfect time to relive and recap yesterday’s Every Woman’s Marathon experience. I had a great day and I’m very proud of the race that I ran. It was a practice in “fun running” and that not every race effort has to [...]
