I had a dream come true last night.
After over five years of Ellie Goulding fandom, I finally got to see her live in Charlotte and she was INCREDIBLE!
I have been a fan of Ellie Goulding since she released her first album back in 2010. She started becoming famous around the same time I started teaching yoga and her songs have been fixtures on my playlists. It’s rare that I put one together that doesn’t have an Ellie song or remix of one. I saw a bunch of yogis at the concert last night. I’d like to think I helped with spreading the Ellie love. 😉 (Haha, kidding.)
We arrived at the NC Music Factory around 7 p.m.
And ran into some friends at VBGB where we grabbed a quick dinner before the show.
I put my boneless chicken bites on top of a salad and topped it with ranch and balsamic.
Shortly after 8, we headed into the Uptown Amphitheater for the show. It was the most beautiful evening for an outdoor concert and the sky was so pretty as the sun was setting.
We spent the next two hours dancing and singing along with Ellie and a sold out crowd. Ellie Goulding was amazing. Her voice sounded just as good live as it does on records and she had a great personality. She played so many of my new and old favorites and often played the guitar and the drums herself. She’s so talented. You can get a play-by-play on Snapchat where I got a little video happy! 🙂 Follow me @ jendecurtins.
Also, Ellie Goulding is FIT! She looked great on stage. Word is that Ellie loves Barry’s Bootcamp and has transformed her body over the last few years through running and lifting. She looked so strong on stage.
After just 4 hours of sleep I was up and at the airport at the early hour of 4:56 a.m. this morning praying that I wouldn’t miss my 5:30 a.m. flight. I had to book a 5:30 a.m. flight with a connection because I bought my ticket last minute.
Security lines were crazy long (I thought the airport would be dead that early in the morning) and as usual, I got flagged by TSA for bringing breakfast long. They didn’t know what to make of my chia pudding but they agreed it was “congealed” enough not to be considered a liquid. I sprinted to my gate, made my flight and snoozed to Atlanta. Once I arrived in Atlanta I grabbed coffee and knocked out some work.
I arrived at my gate to discover all sorts of issues…missing aircraft, missing maintenance logs…it was a mess. But I have to hand it to Delta. They communicated super clearly through the entire delay and the captain even came out regularly to give us updates. They brought a snack cart out. When in doubt, bribe people with sweets and sodas. 😉
I’m flying down to Florida to visit the fam for the weekend. My mom and dad FINALLY joined the world of texting and I had fun sending my dad Bitmoji’s this morning. Side note, if you haven’t downloaded the Bitmoji app you need to! They provide way too much entertainment. My friends and I love sending them back and forth to each other.
We are finally wheels up and will be landing in Florida shortly. I’ll see y’all from the beach with some weekend updates. Can’t wait to give my sweet grandmother a big hug! 🙂
Happy Friday!
What’s the last concert you saw?
Any fellow Ellie Goulding fans?
What’s the weirdest food you’ve taken through security?
