I hope you guys had a great weekend. I spent mine at the yoga studio (SURPRISE!). We’re doing a summer session of our 200-hour teacher training so we’ve got eight weekends of training with our students.

Namastay Kitchen

My fiance (hereby referred to as Tanner because I think at this point we can give hime a name) had the trainees on Friday night for an ashtanga practice and movie discussion. I joined a group of my students after my 4:20 p.m. class for happy hour at Namastay Kitchen.

Tanner’s dad and step-mother were in town visiting for the weekend so we met them along with his brother and sister-in-law for a late dinner in the restaurant after he wrapped teacher training.

Charlotte Regional Farmers Market

Johnna (our other teacher training leader) had the TTs on Saturday morning for meditation and pranayama and then they practiced after so I had the morning free until I taught at 11:15. I headed over to the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market for my first summer produce experience of the season. The tomatoes, peaches, berries and summer squash were out in all their glory. I also took a bunch of photos for a post I have planned about my favorite vendors at the Regional Market. I get so many questions about it from friends and clients.

After teaching at 11:15, I cleaned the room, showered, ordered lunch from Namastay and met up with the TTs for the rest of the afternoon.

Yoga Teacher Training Camel Assist

This was our assist training weekend so it was a very hands-on and tiring weekend but also very fun. Everyone always enjoys learning the assists. We also had some of our Y2 teachers join us for a refresh and some teachers from another studio. You can watch a video of me demoing the assist for our basic power flow sequence on my Power Yoga Flow Instagram.

Salad and pizza

We wrapped up teacher training at 6 p.m. and quickly showered and went to Tanner’s brother’s house for a family dinner and another birthday celebration. (I KNOW! I didn’t plan it and it was a shared celebration.) His dad’s birthday was the 15th, mine was the 16th and his brother’s was the 18th. Lots of Geminis in this family! We kept dinner simple with pizza and salad.

And then did cake and presents.

I spent Sunday morning eating breakfast and writing my Sunday Coffee Chat post before going back to the studio at 10:30 a.m. for assist training.

We went straight through to 1:30 p.m. I met a graduate from our last teacher training for lunch (again, at Namasty…told you I lived at the studio this weekend). We’re getting ready to put her through our mentorship program and onboard her as a new teacher so we were talking about the logistics of that. The rest of my day was spent in assist training and then teaching at 4 p.m. I was DONE when we finally wrapped at 5:30.

6.27run

I told Tanner I was going to go for a short run when we got home and invited him to come along. He told me he was in the mood for something a little longer, in the 6-7 mile range. It doesn’t take much to twist my arm so I agreed. We both wore headphones and listened to audiobooks because we were so tired of talking after the weekend but it was still nice to have company. We ran 7 miles at about a 9:15 pace. While it was 82 degrees, the weather was actually gorgeous because the sun was going down and there was no humidity and a breeze. It was an awesome run.

6.27sullie

We gave the girls tons of attention since we were gone for so much of the weekend.

6.27zoey

Zoey was like, “yes…rub my belly and never leave me again.”

Blue Apron Dinner

I cooked a Blue Apron dish for dinner. I forgot to cancel our scheduled delivery but I’m actually glad we got it because it was nice to have it waiting after a long weekend of work! Makes dinner so easy.

We ended the evening on the couch watching Orange is the New Black. I stayed awake for all of about 15 minutes of it. I woke up as it was ending to discover I had drooled all over Tanner’s shoulder. It was attractive. 🙂

Did anyone run or race this weekend? Tell me about it!

Have you picked up any summer produce at the farmers market yet?

In keeping with tradition, I’m coming in hot with a last-minute gift guide. As much as I’d like to think that one day I’ll be the kind of person who has their holiday shopping done before Black Friday…it’s just not a likely scenario. And I’m okay with that! I hope this list helps you finish [...]

Every Woman’s Marathon Scottsdale Recap (marathon #4!!!)

I am on a three-hour flight home from Scottsdale so it seems like the perfect time to relive and recap yesterday’s Every Woman’s Marathon experience. I had a great day and I’m very proud of the race that I ran. It was a practice in “fun running” and that not every race effort has to [...]

I’m going to get really real right away. I wish I could say that I was feeling excited and confident about the race but [...]
