Last Monday morning I danced my way out of bed and onto my yoga mat at 6 a.m. Fast forward a week and it was a completely different story. I woke up at 3:30 a.m. with terrible cramps and was up until 5:45 a.m. when they finally subsided enough to sleep again. I even took at hot shower at 4:30 a.m., which was very helpful while I waited for the ibuprofen to kick in. I slept until I had to get up to teach my 8:15 and today has been pretty slow going.
I share this as a reminder that our bodies are different every day and sometimes rolling over and going back to sleep is the best thing we can do for them. <3
Luckily, I got lots of rest over the weekend. It was super low-key. Minus a good bit of teaching, we didn’t do much.
Friday night looked like a whole lot of this. Oh wait…so did Saturday and Sunday (minus Bear Bundon who sadly went home on Saturday night.).
I got a massage at the studio after teaching my 4:20 p.m., wrote my recent eats post and then cooked us a feast for dinner. Remember when I bought these Alaskan King Crab Legs at Costco? They survived their stay in the freezer well and were delicious for dinner on Friday night! I served them with a squash casserole that I whipped up using squash and Vidalia onions I had on hand and also made a light cucumber, basil and tomato salad. We dipped the crap in lemon butter. The pieces of crab meat that came out of the legs were huge! It was so good and we’ll definitely splurge on it again.
I met a friend and her little one for a farmers market date on Saturday morning. First stop was for donuts.
I got another apple fritter but it wasn’t as good as last week’s. Kind of chewy, so I only ate half of it.
Here are my goodies…radishes, peaches, zucchini, eggplant, an assortment of mushrooms including oyster and shitaki, heirloom tomatoes, blueberries…
Blackberries, potatoes, carrots, a whole chicken, grass-fed ground beef and eggs.
Another friend left a huge bag of figs for me at Metro last week so I played around with a fig muffin recipe before I had to teach my 11:15 a.m. hot class. I took most of the muffins to our front desk staff to sample and they loved me for it! 🙂 Recipe not ready to share yet but I have some great ideas for test batch 2.
I came home after my 11:15 and made a salad to eat while I prepped for my afternoon arm balance and inversions workshop.
I headed back to the studio for 2 hours of upper body mobility, arm balances and inversions. We worked on handstands, headstands, forearm balance, crow, side crow, mountain climber, revolved mountain climber, chin stand, figure four, shoulder pressing pose and titibasana.
Here’s an Instagram flow of some of the things we worked on. It was a fun time but I was so tired after demoing and teaching all of it.
I arrived to find the goldens lounging. Tanner and I took them for a walk before we had to say goodbye to Bear.
I’d say we did a good job keeping him entertained and happy. I snapped this pic of him sleeping propped up against the couch on Saturday.
While Sullie didn’t hate Bear’s presence (at all), she was like, “sayonara dude” when golden retriever summer camp came to a close. Bear has a pretty sweet home life…he lives in a house with four kids so there is always a ton going on and lots of hands to love on him.
We stayed in again on Saturday night but had dinner delivered through Postmates. We ordered from La Shish Kabob again because it was so amazing last time. We got the veggie plate with babaganoush, hummus, falafel, greek salad and grape leaves, extra grape leaves, extra hummus, a gyro, the chicken kabob plate and pita.
I had a little bit of everything. The rice that came with the chicken kabob plate was killer. It almost had a bit of a curry taste and had lots of roasted veggies in it. I am in love with this place.
FYI…if you’d like to try Postmates use my code EZ8IN for free delivery. (For transparency I get some delivery credit as well.)
We did the same Sunday morning brunch at home thing we always do. I baked another batch of zucchini carrot banana muffins and bread and served them alongside sliced avocado and tomatoes, fruit, bacon and scrambled eggs. These muffins were my second test and turned out great so recipe this week.
I headed off to the Y to teach Total Strength at 2:30 p.m. and then to the studio to teach at 4 p.m.
Sunday night dinner was mahi baja fish tacos with corn on the cobb. We ate them while watching the Olympics.
I wrapped up the weekend giving the girls double belly rubs. 🙂
Low-key but perfect. <3
Did you go out or stay in last weekend?
Did you do any baking over the weekend?
