It’s been quite a few weeks since I’ve shared a meal plan with you. First, I spent a week cooking with Terra’s Kitchen, then life got crazy and I took off for Florida and then I was lacking motivation to cook when I got home last week.

Honestly, last week was a blur of being back in my normal routine but feeling anything but normal. I hope this week is a little better.

Not the most outstanding week of workouts but it got the job done. Goal for next week is at least 3-4 yoga practices and to lift 2-3 times instead of only once. I’m going to have a de-load week on the running front before I gear up for a half-marathon the next weekend (more on that later) so I think my yoga and lifting goals should be manageable.

Handstand Press Progress

I’ll leave you with this Instagram video from my Power Yoga Flow account. While my workouts were pretty mediocre last week, I had a really special moment in my yoga practice. I finally made progress on my handstand press. I credit it mostly to letting go and dropping walls I’d built up in my head and heart.

(If you’re reading in a RSS reader, you’ll probably have to click through to the post to see the video.)

Long time, no post. Honestly, my practice has been on the back burner. I have been training for a half marathon this fall and life has been full. Then 12 days ago, my little brother passed away…which made me further avoid my practice. For the last two days I have made it back to my mat. Yesterday was hard. Today was a little better. For years I have been saying I wanted my handstand press but haven’t really done much to make it happen. Every time I tried I just couldn’t understand where the strength came from. For the past month or so I have been practicing straddle press with my feet on blocks with about a 50% success rate. Today in class I just put my hands on the floor, forgot about the blocks and without a questioning thought, my feet floated off the floor with little struggle or effort. And I pressed. For the first time. I am using the wall for support to come up by pushing my head into it to feel when my hips are past my shoulders but the strength I thought I lacked has been there all along. I just had to get over my own self-limiting thoughts and believe in myself. It’s far from perfect but it’s a start. Compassion. Love. Forgiveness. Showing up. Showing up. Showing up. ❤ . . . #yoga #handstand #handstandpress #questforthepress #yogalove #yogajourney #strength #love #compassion #fearless #yogateacher #yogapractice #inversion #yogavideo #instayoga #yogagram #hotyoga #trustyourself #stayopen #faceyourfears #bestronger
