Healthier Holiday Travel Snacking with Orchard Valley Harvest {Giveaway}

This post is sponsored by Orchard Valley Harvest.

I don’t know about you guys but traveling (especially long car trips!) brings out my snacking side. I blame it on boredom and monotony but I can rationalize eating all kinds of snacks when I’m traveling that I would never eat in a typical day. I have developed several strategies to deal with this including making sure I have a good meal before I take off, packing snacks from home and stopping at places that I know have healthy options. I’ve also found that having good entertainment prevents me from getting bored so I rely on things like magazines, books and crosswords when I’m flying and audiobooks when I’m on car trips.

My dad and I went to Walmart on my last night in Georgia to pick up a few things for dinner. While I was there, I spotted these new Orchard Valley Harvest snacks in the produce section and added a few to my cart to take in the car with me the next day as a healthy snack option for my trip home.

I love, love, love that the Orchard Valley Harvest snacks are available in portioned out into grab and go sizes. I often pick up trail mix type of snacks when I’m traveling but they can be a major calorie bomb if you are mindlessly eating. A multi-serving bag can be gone in a matter minutes!

I especially loved these dark chocolate almonds. I think almonds are a great snack in general but dip them in dark chocolate and I’m one happy girl!

My favorite flavor is the Chocolate Raisin Nut. It’s a blend of chocolate covered raisins (<- one of my ALL TIME favorites!), almonds and peanuts. The nuts are perfectly seasoned with sea salt.

All of the Orchard Valley Harvest snacks are minimally processed and have no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. They are also non-GMO project verified.

Each snack pack has around 150 calories and less than 10 grams of sugar (even the chocolate covered almonds). I think they’re great to have on hand for a quick desk, purse or holiday travel snack.

Want to try them out? GOOD NEWS! I have a $50 Walmart gift card to give away to a reader so that you can try them out for yourself.

If you’d like to enter to win the gift card, just leave me a comment telling me your favorite healthy travel snack.

Giveaway open until Wednesday, November 25 at midnight. U.S. only. One entry per person.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Orchard Valley Harvest. The opinions and text are all mine.

    Haaaaands down 180 brand snacks. Cashews, cane sugar, and fruit. SO. UNBELIEVABLY. GOOD. You’d think it’s just cashews what’s the big deal…I don’t get it either, but they are delicious.

  • Zoe November 21, 2015, 10:01 am

    A favorite car trip snack would definitely be trail mix for me as well. Once the bag is open, it’s hard not to go through the whole thing 🙂 These portioned out snacks are the perfect solution.

    If I am going out of town for awhile and need to eat up some raw produce I will just bring that! Sometimes I am lucky enough to have apples or nectarines which are great and easy to eat while driving. But I have literally shoved dry kale from a salad bag in my mouth going down the freeway because I didn’t want to throw it out before a trip out of town!
    I also try to drink a lot of water since the air blowing in the car can dehydrate you. And stopping for coffee of course! (I love McDonald’s coffee)
    Trail mix and stuff with chocolate is hard for me because it’s hard to stop at one portion, but if I’m traveling on an all-day car trip I will buy the bag, that has several servings. Even with 1000-1500 calories in the entire bag, I will just just eat the whole thing.

  • Haley November 21, 2015, 2:37 pm
