2014 Health Madness + Experiencing upwave

Happy first day of April and first day of the April Smoothie Challenge!

I kicked off the new month with a 4:50 a.m. wake up to train clients, breakfast and teaching yoga. I wanted to get my green smoothie in first thing today so breakfast after training clients was a green smoothie, a peanut butter and banana muffin topped with peanut butter (naturally) and dandelion tea.

Who’s gotten their green smoothie in for the day? I have already seen some great Instagram and Twitter posts! Don’t forget to tag me @jdecurtins and use the hashtag #GreenSmoothieApril.

While we’re on the topic of smoothies and kicking off April in a healthy way, let me share with you a new health and wellness website that I have recently been introduced to – upwave!

upwave focuses on five core pillars: eat, move, relax, thrive and connect and personalizes content for users based on your interests and goals. It also includes other tools for healthy living like recipes, videos, challenges and customizable profiles. Here is a screenshot of my homepage when I signed in today. I indicated that my goals were to “Be Happier” and “Stress Less” and that my interests were love, yoga, outdoors, workout, healthy recipes, stress, meditation, sleep, nutrition, wellness and happiness. upwave tailors the content recommended to me based on those things.

I really love the clean and colorful layout of the site. My favorite thing about upwave is the ability to use their “Track It” feature to sync your health, fitness and wellness data in one place.

You can either automatically sync your devices and apps or manually enter in data trackers. There are SO many things you can track including sleep, energy levels, wearable devices like Fitbit, lift totals for workouts, what you eat on a daily basis, number of hours you work in a day…the list goes on and on! Once you’ve started tracking upwave can provide report and insights on your progress.

The other feature I think is awesome is the upwave challenges. They have many to choose from to help you meet your goals with everything from “Make Mondays Less Sucky” to “Get Your Inbox to Zero” to “Stop Skipping Breakfast.” Each challenge is a set number of days with a set number of steps. It’s a great way to keep yourself accountable and on track to make changes you want to see in your life.

upwave is currently running a challenge of their own…Health Madness! I won’t even pretend that I can tell you what teams are still in the NCAA playoffs but this is a bracket that I can get behind! 🙂

Health Madness semi-finals run through April 2 and the current showdowns are Kale v. Vegan and CrossFit v. Gluten-Free. You can vote on what way to be healthy should make it to the finals by casting your vote on Twitter by tagging @upwave. I think I’ll definitely have to go with Kale and CrossFit! We all know I’m not vegan or gluten-free!

What’s your vote!?

This post is sponsored by upwave but the brand experience thoughts are my own!

My GREEN juice this morning was:kale, spinach, an apple, celery, habanero pepper (I was out of grapefruit) so I added a little filtered water. So good!
