Today is our third anniversary!
A confession. I never ordered a wedding album. We purchased the hi-res images from our photographer but never did anything with them except frame a few around the house. It makes me so happy to look at our wedding pictures and think back on one of the happiest days of my life.
Another confession. I hated wedding planning. I honestly thought there was no way that the actual day of would be worth all of the hassle and headache that went into planning it. I was wrong. I wanted the day to go on forever. I have never felt so much joy and love in one place, at one time in my life.
Brandon and I were married in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina (right outside of Charleston). We lived there for a year after college before Brandon went to law school and it was a dream come true to be able to go back and be married there. Charleston will forever be one of the specialist places on Earth for us.
So let’s get some use out of my wedding pictures and I’ll share the day with you the best way I know how, through a blog post!
The dress: Paloma Blanca
The makeup – Bobbi Brown. Done myself because I didn’t trust anyone else to do it.
My mother and my grandmother. THE two most important women in my life. They approved.
Six of my beautiful best friends. Cristen, Michelle, Meghan, April, Rachael and Becky.
Seven good looking guys. Brandon, Bob (dad), Reade (brother), Lee, Ryan, Drew and Josh.
Gale force winds on our big day but the sun was shining and it was beautiful. What more could we have asked for?
The cake. Three layers. Vanilla with raspberry curd. Vanilla with chocolate mousse. Vanilla with buttercream. I was the bride who took a break from the reception to eat a piece of cake. Are you surprised!?
The flowers. I won’t even pretend to know what went into these. I am not flower-savvy. I just wanted brights.
The ceremony. Under a huge oak tree overlooking Charleston Harbor.
First kiss.
Married.
First dance. Kept it classic with Sinatra.
Sax on the floor. Best band ever.
Presenting my grandmother my bouquet.
We stayed glued to each others side on the dance floor all night.
And they lived happily ever after. I am so incredibly lucky to love and be loved so wholly.
Our wedding planner was Melanie Murphy of By Invitation Only and our photographer was Kim Graham.

Happy Anniversary!
Your wedding pictures are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing them.
Firstly; I loooove your bouquets! The mix of colours are so beautiful and original! Secondly; that cake sounds amaaaaazing. Raspberry curd!? Yum!
I never cease to enjoy reading about what different bloggers do for their weddings – especially my American blogger friends. American weddings are so different from Scottish ones!!
Jen, where is Mt. Pleasant was the ceremony and reception? I live here and am dying to know!
*in, sorry
happy anniversary you too! take time to celebrate each other.
I was smiling the whole time reading this post

Happy Anniversary Jen!! Your wedding photos are absolutely gorgeous!!! I love your dress.
Were the bridesmaid dresses from J Crew? It looks like a style dress that I have and LOVE!
Happy Anniversary! What a gorgeous day! I didn’t order a wedding album either. We just purchased our favorites and either hung them in the house or gave them as gifts. Creating an album was way too stressful for someone as indecisive as me! Hope you’re still enjoying Jamaica!
Oh I just love all your pictures! You look so beautiful! Happy Anniversary!

You look absolutely gorgeous, Jen! And you both look so happy
I just learned we have a lot in common. I never ordered a wedding album, I hated wedding planning, and Jeff and the groomsmen wore tan suits (weren’t those so hard to find?).
I hope you two are having a wonderful vacation

So so SO beautiful!! I love how happy you two are together and I hope you’re having an AMAZING time in Jamaica!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
OMG happy anniversary! I am so glad to hear that I am not the only bride to be to really not enjoy wedding planning. It’s ok most days but way too stressful and expensive for me to ‘live’ for it like some of my friends did.
Glad to hear that it was all worth it though. Your photos are gorgeous!!!
Happy Anniversary!
Happy anniversary! I wish you many, many, MANY more years of happiness!

Wow. Beautiful. What amazing photos! You look gorgeous
Congrats on 3 years!!
Your wedding looks so beautiful!! Congratulations!
Ahh! You got married at Alhambra Hall. My boyfriend and I have scoped out a few places in Charleston as venues (yes before we are engaged…we are planners). It is absolutely beautiful there, plus if you live in Mt P (like we do) you get a crazy good discount.
I recently stumbled across your blog and I love, love, love it! I’m trying to get into running and your post have been great advice.
So, so, SO lovely! I love the classic elegance of your wedding! I just got married last summer and there were certainly stressful times of the engagement period, but it all paid off!
emily – thanks so much!
i agree, it is all worth it in the end!
Jen- We celebrated 3 in August and I’ve yet to order my album as well. Your post made me feel much better about myself. Maybe its a law school-widow thing. My goal is to get it done by our 5 year anniversary.
