Teaching Schedule

I teach yoga at Charlotte Yoga and Om Yoga. I also teach CrossFit and Circuit Training at Metro Fitness Club.

Here’s when and where you can find me. I’m always jumping in to fill in classes at the gym or the yoga studio but this is a pretty set schedule for me week-to-week. Contact me if you’re interested in more information on personal training, yoga privates or group classes. I am also available for workshops and travel.

Monday

Class description: CrossFit is like no other workout you’ve ever experienced. The easiest way to describe it is as a strength and conditioning program that is constantly varied with high intensity and functional movements. Classes are about an hour in duration and follow this format: :

– Dynamic warm up/stretching
– Skill work – we work a skill/movement that is frequently performed in workouts like muscle ups and handstand pushups
– Strength work – squats, deadlifts, bench press, etc.
– “MetCon” (metabolic conditioning), commonly known as the WOD – Workout of the Day
– Cool down – stretching and mobility work utilizing bands, foam rollers and lacrosse balls

Everything we do can be scaled to allow for different fitness levels or injuries/physical limitations. Whether you are just getting started with working out or have an existing injury, we can modify or scale the exercises and work load so that everyone can participate. Our goal is to ensure you are working towards your potential with maximum effort in a safe environment.

Circuit Training (taking over this class in December)

Class description: Our circuit training classes feature a blend of interval and cross training in order to increase not only your strength but also your endurance. We integrate functional movements into all of our programming that help you move, perform and feel better in your everyday life.

Classes are around one-hour in duration begin with a warm-up that involves cardio and dynamic stretching to prepare your body for the workout. We then move into practicing specific skills or doing core strengthening before getting to the day’s circuit workout. The circuits usually range from 15-30 minutes. Classes finish with stretching and mobility work.

The workouts vary from day-to-day to keep you constantly challenged. You can expect to work with a variety of equipment including kettlebells, ropes, sleds, dumbbells, Bosu trainers and your own body weight. The exercises and movements you will perform focus on plyometrics, agility, speed, balance, strength and core work to name a few. No matter your sport or activity of choice, you can be sure that participating in our circuit training classes will enhance your performance.

Class description: Intermediate flow, combining basic and advanced poses and offering modifications. This is a well balanced class and great way to increase your heart rate, expand lung capacity, improve balance, strengthen core muscles and increase flexibility. Get a great balanced practice in just an hour!

Saturday

Class description: An intermediate flow of poses designed to detoxify the body with a heat building series and emphasis on twists and forward folds. Heaters will be used to increase room temperature.

Jen’s note: I have been teaching on Sunday mornings for nearly four years and I LOVE THIS CLASS! We have 90 full minutes to sweat it out, flow, cry (sometimes!) and laugh. I always try to incorporate some sort of messaging/storytelling and always break down something like an arm balance, inversion or advanced pose. All levels are welcome!!!
