Teaching Schedule

I teach yoga at Y2 Yoga and Om Yoga. I also teach CrossFit, Circuit Training and yoga at Metro Fitness Club.

Here’s when and where you can find me. I’m always jumping in to fill in classes at the gym or the yoga studio but this is a pretty set schedule for me week-to-week. Contact me if you’re interested in more information on personal training, yoga privates or group classes. I am also available for workshops and travel.

Monday

CrossFit
5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Metro Fitness Club
2820 Selwyn Avenue, Suite 200
(704) 365-6555

Class description: CrossFit is like no other workout you’ve ever experienced. The easiest way to describe it is as a strength and conditioning program that is constantly varied with high intensity and functional movements. Classes are about an hour in duration and follow this format: :

- Dynamic warm up/stretching
- Skill work – we work a skill/movement that is frequently performed in workouts like muscle ups and handstand pushups
- Strength work – squats, deadlifts, bench press, etc.
- “MetCon” (metabolic conditioning), commonly known as the WOD – Workout of the Day
- Cool down – stretching and mobility work utilizing bands, foam rollers and lacrosse balls

Everything we do can be scaled to allow for different fitness levels or injuries/physical limitations. Whether you are just getting started with working out or have an existing injury, we can modify or scale the exercises and work load so that everyone can participate. Our goal is to ensure you are working towards your potential with maximum effort in a safe environment.

Circuit Training
6:30-7:30 p.m.
Metro Fitness Club
2820 Selwyn Avenue, Suite 200
(704) 365-6555

Class description: Our circuit training classes feature a blend of interval and cross training in order to increase not only your strength but also your endurance. We integrate functional movements into all of our programming that help you move, perform and feel better in your everyday life.

Classes are around one-hour in duration begin with a warm-up that involves cardio and dynamic stretching to prepare your body for the workout. We then move into practicing specific skills or doing core strengthening before getting to the day’s circuit workout. The circuits usually range from 15-30 minutes. Classes finish with stretching and mobility work.

The workouts vary from day-to-day to keep you constantly challenged. You can expect to work with a variety of equipment including kettlebells, ropes, sleds, dumbbells, Bosu trainers and your own body weight. The exercises and movements you will perform focus on plyometrics, agility, speed, balance, strength and core work to name a few. No matter your sport or activity of choice, you can be sure that participating in our circuit training classes will enhance your performance.

Tuesday

Remix
8:10 – 9:10 a.m.
Y2 Yoga - Cotswold
280 South Sharon Amity Road
(704) 456-9642

Class description: Mix it up in this all-levels, mixed-bag vinyasa class. We let our teachers’ personalities and skill sets shine here by giving them free reign to remix our 14-pose series and sequence it any way they see fit. The cooler temperature of this class makes it appealing to beginner hot yoga students but is certainly challenging enough for more advanced practitioners. (Warning…this class is relatively hot and I make it pretty tough! ;))

Power Yoga (non-heated class)
6 :30 – 7:30 p.m.
Metro Fitness
2820 Selwyn Avenue, Suite 200
(704) 365-6555

Class description: designed to meet the needs of a broad range of fitness enthusiasts. Whatever your sport – CrossFit, running, cycling, lifting – you can benefit from adding yoga to your workout mix. This class focuses on linking movement and breathe as you perform postures that will provide a deep stretch while challenging you cardiovascularly. This class will also focus on developing core strength and balance.

Wednesday

Double Shot
6:30 – 7:30 a.m.
Y2 Yoga - Cotswold
280 South Sharon Amity Road
(704) 456-9642

Kick it up a notch with this fast-paced flow. We double up the standing series giving you a chance to tackle every pose twice, adding in modifications or variations as is appropriate for your own personal practice. This class is cardiovascularly intense so we harness the power of the breath to slow you down but fire your practice up. Expect to move with your breath, crank out some core work, and settle in to a hard-earned savasana at the end.

Thursday

280 South Sharon Amity Road
(704) 456-9642

Sunday

Hot Yoga, a.k.a. “yoga church”
9:15 – 10:45 a.m.
Y2 Yoga – Cotswold
280 South Sharon Amity Road
(704) 456-9642

Class description: This is a chaturanga-free class featuring a signature 14-pose sequence, core work, backbends, inversions, and floor work that strengthens the body and focuses the mind. It’s a set series of 14 poses, yes, but these are not the only poses in the class. As such, no two classes ever feel the same, and we keep you on your toes thanks to each teacher’s unique style of pose transitions, modifications and additions.

Jen’s note: I LOVE THIS CLASS! We have 90 full minutes to sweat it out, flow, cry (sometimes!) and laugh. I almost always try to incorporate some sort of messaging/storytelling and always break down something like an arm balance, inversion or advanced pose. All levels are welcome!!!

Hi! Question about your Body Pump 6-7p Thurs class: How early would you suggest arriving before class? I have never been and wasn’t sure how packed it usually is? (I am a DOWD Y junkie, but want to try something new :)

Thanks!!

Hi Becca – there’s usually a good crowd but there’s always more space/equipment. So no need to get there super early. Please introduce yourself – would love to see you in class! :)

Is this still your teaching schedule? How much does it cost per class? I would like to come and join in on a class because I live close to Charlotte. Thanks! :)

Jen – About to move to Charlotte ….. Have been doing Body Pump / Les Mills for 7 years —– WHY aren’t there any in Charlotte? Are the Ys there planning on adding them anywhere else besides downtown? I am thinking Harris YMCA??

Thanks!

I actually just wrote the Charlotte Y asking for them to add body pump to more gyms than just uptown! So maybe if enough people ask they’ll do something…?
