Impulse Buys

I have been pretty worthless today. I slept really late, ate a lot of sweets and blew off working out. It was perfect…and needed! I had a really low-key weekend, highlights being subbing some yoga classes, cleaning and moving furniture and restocking on the food front. I showed you my farmers market finds yesterday. Today I stopped by the grocery and ended up with some impulse buys.

First up, grapefruit juice. I rarely keep juice in the house because it’s so high in sugar but I will occasionally buy orange or cranberry juice. Don’t ask me why grapefruit juice sounded so appealing but I brought it home and immediately poured a glass. So refreshing!

Next up, Ben & Jerry’s Greek Frozen Yogurt and Van’s Waffles. I just tried the frozen yogurt and it is so good. Tangy but really sweet. I got the banana peanut butter flavor (of course) and the peanut butter swirls are the best part! I can’t even tell you the last time I bought frozen waffles but I’m needing some different breakfast options and I’ve heard good things about the Van’s Waffles. I’m envisioning them with almond or peanut butter and bananas.

I’m such a creature of habit so I’m excited about today’s purchases. Do you impulse buy? Have you tried anything new and noteworthy lately?

While we are on the topic of impulses. I got a polish change yesterday and decided to finally embrace the one sparkly nail trend. ThanksΒ Pinterest! I love it. πŸ™‚

My one nutritious meal of the day was a salad for lunch. Spinach, broccoli slaw, farmers market tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, carrots, nuts, feta and dried cranberries.

I baked these blueberry crumb bars yesterday and ate quite a few as I was photographing them. Recipe soon!

Sushi dinner.

Sullie wishes you a good week. May you play, love and be happy!

My most recent impulse buy was TJ’s frozen mango chunks. I love mango smoothies from Starbucks and Panera and decided to start making my own!

Do you remember the name of your polish? I’ve been looking for something about that shade. Thanks!

My last impulse buy was a Kavu rope bag for my morning yoga classes. I’ve used it once.

I love Van’s Waffles, especially the GF blueberry ones and the french toast sticks are also really good.

First off, that workout from Saturday’s post looked pretty brutal, I may just have to try it! and second, I am very impressed that Sullie does not eat those toys, my golden (though still young) chews through EVERYTHING we buy so now I stick to rawhide… impulse buy today… pretty much everything I picked up at whole foods!

she’s so good with toys. she rarely destroys them. most of her toys she’s had for years and years (thus the number surrounding her…and that was a small few!). i LOVE whole foods!

OMG Sushi looks amazing! Was this out or did you make?! Your homemade dessert looks incredible as well. I cannot bake for the life of me and stay gluten free/dairy free due to intolerances…I have spent so much time on food gawker looking at recipes and I keep failing! Anyway, glad you got to laze, our adrenals need to restore when we have such “go go go” lifestyles. Getting back to your normal active week always feels as good as relaxing though too…hope you have a great monday!

Sullie is such a cutie. It’s good to have days like this…everything in moderation, even moderation. Love the nails, I love the glitter nail accent. I bought Martha Stewart’s glitter to mix and match it. Kind of silly, but true.

Definitely a creature of habit when it comes to my shopping, but I’ll pick up something new now and then! Last week I bought pita bread for the first time in forever and it was amazing. I need to get it more often!

Love that salad, and those bars look so good!

Love the nails!!! I always tend to buy the same things when I grocery shop but just recently found Udi’s gluten free muffin tops and bought them! Not something I would normally get but I’m always excited when I find a new G free option to try!

      Jen July 16, 2012, 11:17 am

I recently started challenging myself to have a different breakfast each morning, Monday through Friday. Friday happens to be waffles for me…something to look forward to – the Van’s aren’t bad but I must tell you that the Trader Joe’s gluten-free waffles are fantastic!!!!

You know, I have some waffles in the downstairs freezer that I need to get out so I can have something different. Even as a mid-day snack! I’m either eating Coach’s Oats in the morning, a yogurt concoction or eggs. And that Ben & Jerry’s sounds great! I have to check that out.

Love the sparkly nail. I did a pale pink with one sparkly nail for Christmas and kept looking down at it and smiling, very proud of the lone sparkly nail. Love the look in gray! I randomly won a giveaway for those waffles/brand- haha! I haven’t used the vouchers yet but this reminds me! Were they any good?
